Chance works from 0 to 1.
0 means no fucking way it will ever happen
1 means it will happen everytime
Any number in between, which might be any real number (0.1, 0.123, 0.99, 0.50) is a number that indicates how likely is the thing to happen.
Now, having a 0.99 chance, which means 99%, means that you have 1 chance in 100 to make thing happen. It doesn't mean it will happen after 100 attempts, it means that statistics mean it will approximately happen once every 100 tries.
So, Thing may happen after 50 tries, as well as happen after 150 tries, because every time you have 1/100 chance of success.
The law of big numbers says, that if you attempt a million times, statistically you'll have 1000 succeeded attempt, the bigger the number of attempts is, the more close to thorethical chance your result will be.
