I borrowed GTA 3 from a friend and my parents made me give it back cause I was murdering cops and running people over. Dude gave me Max Payne instead. I already had GTA2 but seems 3D graphics were too lifelike.

I blame it on my friends wasting time around the map instead of actually going on missions and shit, they never sold me on the idea so i just assumed it wasn't worth it

Anyways, yeah, i owned Hit & run too, it was fun. But i did play GTA clones, mainly True Crime NYC, Godfather and Scarface. I guess they had more gimmicks to keep me hooked, with TC being a easy-trigger cop simulator and the other two were based on cool movies where you actually built criminal empires. Godfather in particular i must've completed a dozen times (didn't have as much time with the other two unfortunately)

This was a very comfy game for off-mission police work
It still gets me how the final boss for the worst and best endings can counter every bit of kung fu you throw at him, but literally every grapple move works. His fights were just a case of patiently whittling his health down with the same move over and over again

Hell yeah this game was great. I loved how the simple AI just seemed to work in complex ways. Watching AI vs AI skirmishes was always fascinating, as well as how Expo-2 could make an LZ out of any cramped spot you threw your smoke in

I'm not sure how they got away with being able to make anyone people shit their pants at will, throwing people against buildings to kill them, making peope's head explode from pants shitting to collect their brain, and shooting people with guns and managed to get a T for teen rating.
