I mean even shotgun in Prey had some acidic bright green substance spewing out of it, so while keeping it mechanically conformist they atleast spent some time on making visual presentation look different.

Here it looks like they didn't even bother and dropped that half way which doesn't bode well for this game. Looking at cool gigeresque locations is not enough, there has to be something more, like in MDK for instance.

No, I would be ok with a first person exploration/puzzle game in that kind of world, it just seems interesting to look at and interact with.

That's not the problem, it doesn't look worse. We've not seen better gameplay before and the graphics are the same, they just changed the character's design.

There was some futuristic megastructure that got some biological infestation growing into it, and then you woke up being halfway infested and you work your way to the end while you try to get rid of the mutations on you and save the megastructure as well. Man, seeing scorn depresses me, as the world it depicts is almost exactly like one I have been working on for years in my spare time (sort of dystopian, biopunk city with mutant inhabitants) and every time I see Scorn it feels like someone literally took the ideas I had from my head and made them into reality.

Sorta kills the drive to work on my own thing.

As people said already it would be a waste if its just a regular shooter with an HR Giger Art world put on top of it, would be nice if there's some actual kind of trippy story to go along with it or if the...monsters? demons? get more grotesque as the game goes along

Also maybe the protag mutates into the thing on the left, it would suck if he's just some dude wandering around in that place just to go 'oh i can make guns out of living things...cool, time to shoot myself out of here'

Well, it would never be a game for one. At best it might be a webcomic or a tg setting.

I actually at one point entertained the possibility of it one day being some sort of squad based rts game or something like that, with different warring factions of mutants (sketch related), but the realities of the game development world made me realize that I never want to work on that field, as it would ruin me utterly for my only "skill" is decent enough artistic skills for an utter amateur and that is not a good foundation for a career in that field.

I am sorta confused on what to do with the setting desu.
Like I said, with Scorn being made, I sorta feel like my thing is already obsolete. That, combined with the fact that I have started studying in an University and my focus in thoughts has sorta shifted away from the fictional worlds I enjoyed building, and into the real world we inhabit and it's politics, my main drive to work on this setting has faded somewhat.
It feels so trivial to dedicate time to making a setting that ultimately is just a venue for escapism probably only for me, especially when I ought to focus my energy and time on matters concerning myself in the real world, and my nation's future in longer scope.
Maybe I have grown too old. Few years ago I could spend countless hours just drawing shit but nowadays, I don't have the energy.

Nothing wrong with walking sims though. From when I was young one of the things I always really liked about video games was the ability to leisurely explore unknown worlds, and I gravitated towards video games that let me do this. In a game like Thief, dodging guards is only half the fun. The other half is the thrill of exploring a place you're not supposed to be and uncovering its secrets.

Its a spooky horror game, the main game is walking in a creepy environment and solving problems. 'walking sim' is a fucking shitty term that I feel implies tons of down time between things going on. A horror game if built properly has no real down time, there are slow moments made to build tension leading up to something, not the same thing.

The whole mutation thing is interesting but if the game is mostly puzzles then the first person camera will make most mutations token since they won't really be seen or affect gameplay. But if the game is more action heavy then I'm not sure if the mutations won't ruin the tone since why be scared when you got a clobbering claw and can just wail on someone the moment they get antsy with you.

You don't have a very good imagination. Fear works best when you change the player's power in a situation. If the player is always weak and the enemies always strong, the fear levels don't change too much
If you mix it up and let the player be strong sometimes, you can make interesting situations and leave the player unsure of their own position, which is an important tool in horror

Just based on the fact that you have to check the gun's ammo yourself I doubt it's going to be crazy on the action. I expected this to be a fast paced shooter like Quake when seeing the first footage.
