Automata managed to be way more meaningful with a happy ending than any typical dramatic shit manages to be with a sad.

So why do you guys think Drakengard is a 9/10 game? I think it's mainly because of the way it manages to make the player rage for various reasons and THEN you get a pop-up from an npc telling the maim character not to be so angry for no apparent reason. It's genius. Also the music fits in perfectly. But what really seals the deal is the absolute catharsis that ending E provides.

"Route" D & E are complete alternate videogamelol what if-shitshows that cannot exist in the same canon as ABC, but once you finally reach the end and experience and see what happens on the screen you can't help but laugh and say well fucking played you fucking madman. I actually unironically love the game.

It's not, Drakengard is a really shitty videogame that I would never advise someone to actually play.

It's got a real neat story though

Brotip: with the exception of Drakengard 1, all of Taro's games have happy final endings. He enjoys watching players suffer, but he also tends to give them a light at the end of the tunnel to show that the suffering was worth it.

Which is kind of the whole theme of Automata's ending E. Their struggles had value and didn't deserve to be erased.
