The point is money. I'm not even saying the movie will be made, but the publicity from the press release will have them laughing all the way to the bank. Some studio will grab it up to potentially cash in on the game's popularity and even if nothing comes from that, the IP will have enough clout that you'll see merch popping up all over ala FNAF.
