I'm excited about it. The RPG stuff will probably be very shallow but as you said at least they changed the fighting a little bit. Usually the world design is pretty good in these games and I care about the late roman republican era. That is pretty much the only reason I will buy this stupid game. I just wish they had a "no sci-fi glowing orbs made by god to create the world"-mode so I could just get immersed in the historic world.

But what's more retarded is that apparently Ubi introduced a lot other secret societies in the side material/games and even in Brotherhood DLC, but still they rather just observe the Assassin-Templar war than, say, fuck them both up in the case of the unfathomably powerful ones, or take a side, for the underdogs.
