nah it's perfectly safe. i've only ever bought used gpu's with no issue. if you're so worried about it then just get your vacuum cleaner and clean the fuck out of the cooler and if you're really really worried about it then simply replace the thermal paste under the cooler just like you'd do for your cpu. it takes literally 2 minutes

You will need at least a 1060 or RX 480/580 for this game, don't even bother with cards worse than these two, they're literally outdated trash and not worth the money.

You asked for a decent GPU under $150. The 1050ti is one of the best budget GPUs for under $150. The 1060 is at least $220.

This is all assuming you're buying new. You can save a hefty sum by buying used (especially on CL or eBay). If you do buy used, clean it out and consider replacing the thermal paste inside said GPU if you're not a wuss. The thermal performance and longevity will be improved. Make sure to only use nonconductive paste if you do this. I used Arctic MX-4 thermal paste for both my CPU and GPU. Very affordable at $8 USD shipped, and has one of the best tempmarks on the market.

I'm not suggesting you have to get the best on the market. I'm just saying that getting better items later during seasonal sales is best for having better upgrade paths than inferior items now when you have less money. If you get a weak i5 CPU now, your stronger GPU can be bottlenecked.

Consider getting used parts if you need to save on costs. I've purchased mostly used PC parts in all my builds, and I'm still alive and running fine (GPU needed new paste, though. )
