One of the greatest games ever made. I truly believe this is top 10 ever created, and still holds up to this day no matter what version you play.
Possibly the most perfect pacing in any game.

Castlevania Draculas X Chronicles is the best thing you could ask for, a brand new game based on a classic, the original game and they even added Symphony of The Night at the top of it

I think its impossible to separate personal attachment, but here are games that I regularly replay today from the Playstation 1/N64/Saturn era.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4
The game is criticized for the lack of content, but that’s part of what makes it great. It’s an arcade game, something you’d pop in 50 cents and try to get to the end. Can finish in 1 hour but it is the apex of cozy driving. All 8 tracks have their own identity, and it has an unmistakable acid jazz soundtrack that is all its own.

Star Fox 64
Like R4, its a smaller game, but a rich game. Infinitely repayable, great background dialogue, exciting rail shooter combat, and a dieselpunk aesthetic that I am really sad no other game in the series copied from.

Resident Evil (Trilogy)
There are many games in the style of Resident Evil on the PS1, either because that’s just how games usually looked back then, or trying to copy Resident Evil’s success, but nobody wears it better than the king. You’ve probably played these, but if you haven’t get on it.

Silent Hill
This goes for the other 3 games as well. Great game, so much fun everytime I boot it up. Advancements in PS1 emulation have made it look better than ever with PGXP perspective correction, of course its fine on a CRT like you played back in the day. Tense, oppressive atmosphere, meticulously detailed environments, ambitious but understandable storyline. It’s a rather difficult game, give it a few tries before giving up.

Dodonpachi
Huge fan of Cave, and I would argue this is one of their best works. Everything feels so satisfying to shoot, and it has my favorite music in the entire genre. Its not an easy shmup, but its not hard either, and it doesn’t get bogged down with too many mechanics like their later entries.

Omega Boost is the most timeless PS1 game of all.
Very pick-up-and-play, made by the Gran Turismo devs, surprisingly nice graphics.
admittedly, it's got a handful of flaws (first two stages are trivial to the point of being a bit boring after a few playthroughs, control during the actual "pulled forward" rail-shooter sections is a bit slippery), but it's overall a brilliant game
