Since VEGA wont get back in its normal prices for a while, which GTX 1070 has the best price/quality ratio, i was leaning towards the MSI armor, gonna use it for heavy gaming and will most likely OC it
>>
>>389441586
The cooler on the Armor GPUs are kinda shit and only really worth buying if you're gonna put it under water. Don't cheap out, get something with a decent cooler.
>>
Check the prices of GTX 1080, the mining craze made 1070s price almost equal to 1080, at least in my country.
>>
>>389442932
This. Unfortunately buying a 1060, 1070, 470, 480, 570, 580, or either vega is a fucking stupid idea at the moment, unless by some miracle you find one for msrp.
>>
>>389441586
Buying a GPU at this time is one of the worst financial decisions you could ever make
>>
>>389443057
well i certainly need a new GPU so what the fuck am i supposed to do
>>
>>389442932
Why is DDR4 RAM expensive now as well? It's doubled from when I bought mine 18 months ago.
>>
>>389443092
the prices will never get back to normal and i think its time for all of us to accept this, the price of this gen gpus will get normal when they are already a generation old and i cant wait for that long
>>
>>389441586
Keep looking for a Vega deal. AMD is making deals with retailers to have them in stock every couple days.

>>389443092
If your old card is good for mining, now is the time to sell. You can sell a 2 year old R9 390 for almost as much as it cost new.
>>
What does /v/ think of the Asus ROG Series?
>>
>>389443514
It looks like Fury cards are the exact same price as 290/390 cards, why would anyone buy one when you could get a used Fury at the same price? Did someone meme something about them being bad for mining?
>>
>>389443142
smartphones
>>
>>389443642
the price is absolute bullshit for what you are actually getting
>>
>1070's

3.5 GB
>>
>>389441586
Gigabyte is best, they may not have flashy marketing like ASUS and EVGA,but the cards are cheap and perform well
>>
>>389442727
fpbp
Don't go for their Armor coolers. The other ones from MSI are good though.
>>
>>389443771
The best?
>>
>>389443797
Wasn't that just the 970?
>>
>>389444502
nope shitty overpriced RGB with decent cooler that you can find in other cards for a price a lot lower
>>
>>389442932
Yup, 1070 was 440 but a 1080 was 490 so I just got a 1080.
>>
>>389444620
>triple fan perfect cooling
>decent
Spotted the asspained poorfag who's never owned one.
>>
What's this bitcoin mining meme I keep seeing associated with GPUs?
>>
Never buy Asus anything.
>>
>>389444729
baby's first gaming pc eh
>>
>>389444795
Modern GPUs aren't really graphics processors, they're massively parallel general purpose hardware that can be used for a variety of things.
That includes mining cryptocurrency.

The thing that's sending the cards pricing all out of whack as far as AMD is concerned is that mining is something that is done almost exclusively on GNU/Linux where there are third party drivers which are higher performance than the Windows drivers, sometimes significantly.
So the prices are all shot to hell because cards that for Windows gaming perform next to a 1060 perform next to a 1070 or 1080 on Linux depending on the workload
>>
>>389445054
Except the ROG GPUs. Even /g/ thinks they're great.

Just buy the one with more fans, good warranty in your location, good fan control/software/etc and if it is old stock, not evga.

>wait a year up until now to finally build a new pc

I have never met a person who talks about bitcoins in casual conversation that didn't seem like a faggot.
>>
>>389446130
not really though it might have been a better idea to get a few more shekels and just grab the KFA2(GALAX) 1080 which in amazon.de is 504 euros
>>

GIGABYTE is master race tier

>I have never met a person who talks about bitcoins in casual conversation that didn't seem like a faggot.
Because if they talk about it online, one can assume they are the libertarian/free market/i hate the government types.

Wait for Nvidia Volta GV104 GTX 2070

offline I mean.

Ah, I was told a 1080 wasn't worth it unless you were planning on going 4k

>got an Alienware X51 R2 from a friend for $350 with a 760 and i7 in it
>not sure how far I can go upgrading because the PSU is basically a 330w laptop charger and isnt even inside the tiny case
What do?
>>
>>389443804
Never had a Mobo fail on me in my years of building. One PC I built 6 years ago and sold to a friend is still going strong.

I always use the UD3 series board, currently have a GTX 1070 by gigabyte in my rig. Top tier.
>>
>>389446438
why tho what?
>>
>>389446579
Upgrade the PSU before anything else? Maybe just sell that rig to some kid for profit and use it towards a new build
>>
>>389446572
when has being practical stopped someone from going overkill? get it, it will last you longer and it will allow you to upgrade whenever you wish

They spelled "Armour" wrong on the box.

You'd think a a company as big as MSI would at least do a spell/grammar check before they release 700 dollar products.
>>
>>389446830
thats literally the cheapest 1070 on the market(if we dont count the zotac mini 1070)

>>
>>389446779
What did I say that's inaccurate?

The unofficial open source Linux drivers for AMD hardware are in fact faster than the Windows drivers.
The majority of hardcore dedicated mining activity happens on dedicated GNU/Linux systems.
The reason AMD cards specifically are in high demand for mining is their much better performance for Linux mining than Windows gaming.

Its not Windows gamers who are driving up the costs of AMD hardware, their drivers are terrible for that.
>>
>>389446579
Judging from that 760, I assume that's the first-second gen i7s. That's a bit expensive for $350.
>>
>>389447237
What is it about "Nobody cares frenchy" that you don't understand?
