>use all your healing items during a boss fight
>boss fight turns out to be unwinnable, you're supposed to lose
name 2 (TWO) supposed to lose boss fights that arent immediately apparent to anyone that isnt clinically mentally handicapped

This is one of the reasons I have a save game ready to savescum, just in case
>fight a boss
>hard as fuck
>rest of the game has been easy
>oh lol im supposed to lose
>die
>it was a real boss
>lose hours of progress
>>389427369
I might not know two games, but in eternal sonata you have to fight an early boss thats powerful and can be killed, but the devs implemented a move literally called ex machina which insta kills everyone before the final blow and thats even with hacks. it's interesting to say the least.

Disgaea is a good example of this. It's the main cause of this memory >>389427484

>not saving literally every chance you get
>not saving after every slightest bit of progress
>>389427579
Well actually the time I'm thinking of was when I had a PS1 and a shitty memory card. Pretty often the memory on the card would get corrupted or fucked up or something and it would just stop working altogether. So I would have to play games from literally start to finish by leaving my PS1 on for actual days straight so that time I actually lost my entire save
>fight unwinnable boss
>spend eons fighting it
>actually beat it, and the game doesn't know what the fuck to and crashes

Seath the Scaleless in DkS
The final fight in Shadow of the Colossus
Those are the only 2 examples I can think of, and in context they weren't even bad tho
>>389427369
The opposite has only happened to me
>You win by getting the boss to 50% hp
>You win by doing a specific action despite the boss being impossible to damage
>They expect you to lose but it is beatable for a secret item.
>You missed an item/move that makes the boss normal difficulty
>use items to full restore and prepare for a boss fight
>boss so ez you can beat it without taking a hit
>items wasted
>>389427537
This immediately came to mind, but I had no idea about that attack. I just assumed he was unkillable

>Seath the Scaleless in DkS
How so? You can't hit him and you can't avoid some of his attacks.

>Think the boss is supposed to be unbeatable
>Turns out he's simply immune to all damage except that dealt by your weak-ass starting weapon
>>389429175
according to the wiki it does 125% of your hp, basically instant death, https://youtu.be/x4-57i3ln-o?t=1981
here's it in action.

Lol what. Disgaea is a terrible example, you can win every boss fight.
>Use all your healing items during multiple boss fights
>Most fights usually give 1 or 2 spare items, but the entire area gives 0.
>There is another one you did not expect, its the hardest one in the game (and possibly the series for non-secret fights), and you are boned without health recovery.
To be fair, I did not prepare correctly but fuck me did it make the fight 10x times harder then it should have been.

Their point is that disgaea fakes you out with easy encounters, then a sudden huge uptick in difficulty. It feels like a "supposed to lose" fight.
