Yeah I know, I play the game. There are a lot of dead bodies lying around in Xen and in the final boss area. I think those guys, despite being scientists, are expendable and lower tier in the status ladder. Ironically, they end up dying in the beginning went everything went to hell and you end up safe because of the said suit.

Pretty much nobody I knew played HL1 with texture filtering off, and I'm pretty sure it was designed with it in mind. It's not Doom or Quake which turn into a blurry mess, Doom sprites especially look like garbage.

Well, I can't run Sierra version in OpenGL for some reason and there's no way to enable widescreen in other modes, so Xash3d really helped me.

You're supposed to read the manual. Also SS2 has a pretty long tutorial that explains to you how the inventory works, how to shoot, how to maintain guns etc. It's stylized as a recruitment agency IIRC. So, pretty much the same thing Hazard Course is.
