Like films, video games became so popular that they became an industry more about making money than the visions of creative people who genuinely enjoy the medium. Then it also seems like even when a fresh creative idea for a game comes along it gets executed as lazily as possible with preexisting tools.

Not all western games are bad. The problem with the western triple AAA games now a days is that their soulless boring open world games with rpg elements. None of them feel unique anymore. The Indie scene has grown big over the recent years but will never over take triple AAA market.

These two are the absolute worst. Women have played video games since ever, but for some reason all women who play games always bitch about everything and always have a victim complex. Sjws are basically the same but to a much more worse degree. It's like that black bitch who is pissed off at people using black emojis/gifs. Even if you try to please everybody, there will always be a cunt who will find something offensive, and in the video game industry, this greatly affects what is and what isn't okay to have in games now.

I'll tell you why the old PC Gaming, Playstation, Xbox, Game Master and Nintendo mags were so good:
The people that wrote for them were genuine fans who loved games and just had fun with writing about them. They werent pretentious writers with a stick up their bum trying to drum up controversy for the sake of it. They realised what they did was a job and nothing of major significance so they didnt let their egos grow too big.

They got a bit of money to review something, they review it, or preview it, or do some interviews, and then it gets published every month for people to see.
It was a simple concept that got warped by a generational shift towards instant content.

This industry got greedy in more ways than one, we got greedy too. The internet became our main source of news and feedback, and these guys faded into obscurity or were forced to change with the times.

Its likely we will never have this back. And its pretty sad honestly.

It's sad to see how far the typical videogame magazine has fallen. I cancelled all my subscriptions during the 7th gen as scores kept creeping upwards and genuinely honest reviews were reserved for unpopular games. 94/100 for Dragon Age 2 on launch alongside some twat arguing that DRM was good have soured PC Gamer forever for me.

I've seen people accept games and just leave them stored in a box in a closet, mostly because they've been too casualized by modern and mobile games, so when they try out something challenging that also looks ugly (to them) because of 6th gen graphics, they drop it quickly.
You're probably the person that will appreciate those games the most just on nostalgia. I keep all of the games I enjoy, the shitty ones I trade in for other games
