What games can I play with my laptop?

For reference it can play Half-Life just fine but something about Battlefield Vietnam is too much for it. I did manage to play HL2 but I had to stop every now and then because it would overheat.

Most anything based on Quake engines including Quake.
Jedi Outcast and Academy come to mind.
Half-Life 2 probably runs.
If Warband doesn't run try original Mount & Blade.
Call of Duty up to 4
GTA up to San Andreas
Loads of small scale indie games that cost you few bucks are still decent entertainment for the price for few hours.
Go through some old lists of all time best PC games and try them. Just about all of them are easy to pirate.

BF Vietnam looks like shit but it's also pretty heavy game to run relative to its technology.
