There is no direct relation between a game's difficulty and its quality and enjoyment you can get out of it. There's nothing wrong with easy games per se.
The problem here is the lack of skill preventing reviewers from evaluating hard(er) games more objectively.

While being a reviewer sounds enticing, the transition from small-time to notable personage is fucking terrible. Most low-end sites have terrible limitations or obnoxious imposed stipulations like mimicking the site's "style" (i.e. Polygon) or stricter time limits on submitting your essay. People who actually like video games and manage to get past that rather huge wall have it really easy and should be commended. It's a wonder that the modern journalist even earned their position, maybe since nobody expects much of a "video game journalist".
