Original War, only a bit in so far but it looks like a micro-focused RTS with persistent characters as units. Skill gain, levelling, banter and permadeath included

EDF is so cheesy and the acting is so bad, but its fun as fuck because you are a tiny man fighting HUNDREDS and THOUSANDS of huge things trying to kill you to various degrees.

You can play as an anime girl with a jetpack and a gun that can blow up city blocks.

You can be the air support guy who can call in Gundams and massive artillery barrages

You can even be a suit of power armor that has inifinte dash moves and can equip huge guns and insane amounts of missiles.
