Someone who is watching you play (and therefore doesn't know how the game "feels") would not be able to tell the difference between 144 FPS at 144 Hz and, say, 1440 FPS at 144 Hz, because the monitor is going to display the same number of frames per second either way.

More fps make game feels more responsive. Try playing OSU or CS:GO on 60fps monitor with 60 fps rate limit. There would be about 20 ms delay because there no perfect sync between monitor and your video processor. At 240 fps limit delay would be ~5 times smaler ~4ms on same 60fps monitor.

Honestly I've looked at it and even I don't know what the problem is.

It turned on and gets to the BIOS screen when he puts his HDMI through the motherboard, when he tries it through the GPU or whatever, he gets nothing.

I tried asking some friends I know who are good with PC's but he won't add them as friends on steam so he won't get answers through them.
