My reasons:
Consoles only cost $200-250 now bundled with a game, run games well enough for me, and I don't have to deal with troubleshooting issues that come up that sometimes do on PC.
I mostly play Japanese games anyway and not all of those even get PC ports, and the ones that do are usually pretty rough.
I play a lot during summer with limited AC use, so if the console shits itself eventually due to running so often when it's hot, I can get a replacement system for less than the cost of a replacement graphics card on PC.

basically the primary issue is reviewers were mistakenly led to believe that the only major difference between the 970 and 980 was clockspeed, In reality the 970 was cut down, it had fewer ROP's, basically it couldn't output the same maximum amount of pixels/clock as the 980. This meant it could only have 7 memory ports, called crossbars, unlike the 980's 8. So .5GB of VRAM per crossbar, or 3.5 total. Except they tried something new. (or newish, they tried the fast/slow memory on another GPU before I believe but it was implemented differently) They wanted to shove all 4GB of memory down less pipelines instead of outright disabling .5GB. The issue is if all 4GB were utilized simultaneously they would bottleneck the 7th crossbar hard, reducing the GPU to 3.0 GB total. To avoid this they partitioned the memory in a way to limit the bandwidth of the last .5GB, so it wouldn't interfere with the first 3.5. So a neat solution, however the end result was still in practice basically the same, you had 3.5GB and going over it to 4 would cause stutters as the last part of the VRAM ran at a much slower speed. It really depended on the game though what would happen. This all could have been avoided if Nvidia wouldn't have disabled ROP's and CUDA cores from the 980.

Only thing that comes to mind is one of those batman games which didn't work at all, but I got that for free with a GPU and wasn't going to play it anyway.

it is a bit weird how people refuse to move onto 1440p and prefer to max out games at 1080p/60.

well unless you have a 1440p monitor there is no need to increase the resolution unless the game doesn't have good AA solutions. most of the time pc games come with a nice variety of AA solutions so downsampling isn't really needed.
