Somethings are lost in translation but since the subs aren't direct translations, there's no point. Sometimes it's only minor changes, "Give me something that will burn my throat." becomes "Give me something strong." but sometimes the changes can alter your entire perception of two characters' relationship. Yen never refers to Ciri, basically her adopted daughter, as her daughter in the english version, for example.
