>turn off music because it's actually pure cacophony and the most overrated soundtrack in existence

MOM'S GONNA FREAK
>>
>Yes, I'll only take half the game experience, please.
>>
>>389242337
Really bland game. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Hope they've learned a lot for the sequel.
>>
>>389242568
The sound design is so well done that no music is like a different (better) experience
>>
>>389242337
>DOOM "music"
>*WUB WUB WUB WUB*
>*BRRAAAAAPPP*
>>
>>389242337
DOOM is like, one of the few games I actually let the music on and don't turn it off.
>>
>>389242337
Sounds are really nice in this game, had to turn the music down to appreciate them. Don't know why they set it up in such a way, Painkiller didn't have this balance problem.

>not comprehending the genius of Meshuggah

always knew /v/ had shit taste
>>
>>389244960
Meshuggah have solos in their music with intricate guitar work. You can't say the same about dooms soundtrack.
>>
>>389242337
I didn't like the style of the music at all, but the way it complemented gameplay was very well done. The soundtrack fit perfectly and underlined everything that was happening on the screen, which is all it should ever even try to do.
>>
>>389245048
Doom's soundtrack also isn't stand-alone music. It should work alongside gameplay, not on its own.
>>
>>389245108
True, it has a lot of work behind it too.
>>
>>389242337
I didn't like the music either. I'm not sure why people praised it so much, it was just random noise.
>>
>>389245048
>Meshuggah have solos in their music with intricate guitar work. You can't say the same about dooms soundtrack.>>

While you're not wrong, the solo shit is very much not the point of meshuggah at all. It's the approach to rhythm and the timbre of the guitars/bass. Was very happy to see the Doom soundtrack take a leaf out of their book, not to mention the composer working with Frederik on the wolfenstein soundtrack.

Mick Gordon needs to get out of Meshuggah's ass an write some better riffs.
His style for D44M was great but the riffs were repetitive as fuck.
>>
>>389242337
i agree, im not really a fan of the deathcore sans vocals shit. meshuggah sure as fuck isn't my cup of tea and seems like they derived a lot of inspiration from that subset of shitty metal
>>
Replace with original soundtrack, dummy baka.
>>
>>389242337
I feel like the songs have really good intros and then fall into bland droning noise but people just think about the memorable intros.
>>
>>389245354
> just random noise

only the most ignorant of plebs say shit like this about anything
>>
>>389245453
how would you describe harsh noise
>>
>>389245108
>>389245336

The soundtrack fits perfectly with cawadoody MLG montages

It's very similar to Zardonic.

classy huh?
>>
>>389245371
That's a good one dude, people have written fucking doctorates on Meshuggahs approach to rhythm and frequency content.

The music in this game does a good job of pumping me up, even if a lot of it listened to on its own isn't so great. It's about the whole package. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKuJx0mM68Q sounds like hot garbage if you're just going to sit and listen to it but when you're running around blasting demons its pretty sick.
>>
>>389245591
>someone somewhere got a masters degree in the study of garage metal bands
they really do just give them away now
>>
>>389245360
No, it isn't the point you're right. But you need it to complete the package. Imagine listening to the same riff for four minutes before heading into the next riff for another four minutes without something to break it up. That is doom. I would not be happy if do not look down was the same for four minutes.
>>
>>389245523
>only plebs label things a random noise
>'how about the one genre you could maybe make an argument for labeling as random noise'

you're a fucking idiot
>>
>>389245734
the fact i can find an exception at all should tell you im the right one here
>>
Is djent actually progressive deathcore for pretentious core kids who wanna sound smart, or is it just castrated industrial metal for nu-males who wanna sound tough?
>>
>>389245726
You don't udnerstand how scientific data works. You never know how or when it will come in useful. It may help or musician or a statistician or a sociologist somewhere sometime. Breakthroughs aren't singular eurekas, they rely on numerous sets of data and studies that often seem useless until they suddenly aren't. If it's a scientific paper (as opposed to a pseudo-scientific mumbo-jumbo), it's worthwhile.
>>
>>389245808
If you were the faggot calling Doom's soundtrack random noise, you should really check your definitions of random and noise. And I don't mean the definition of noise as 'something you can hear' you autistic spaz, you know exactly what I mean.
>>
>>389245948
Sure is nice to hear some actual syncopation in metal for once though!
>>
>>389245963
You don't understand how universities work

they gotta have high success rates, so they can't afford letting any of their students fail their doctorates no matter how retarded and useless their thesis may be. If they wanna filter out the idiots, they can always do it afterwards by not giving them any jobs anyway.
>>
>>389245948
What's the difference?
>>
>>389246050
It's not really nice, it's actually kind of annoying. You can't headbang to it, the groove is fucked, and it eventually all blends together.
>>
>>389242337
I like it because I like industrial and power noise
>>
I mean you could probably get away with just listening to the first 2 Doom osts.
As long as you're still enjoying the game then more power to you.
>>
>>389246153
Whether the people who like it wear black tanktops or flannel shirts.
>>
Music is great, Transistor Fist is factually God tier and you need to kill yourself if you disagree.
>>
>>389246132
What I said was a basic fact about how science works. What you said is a conspiracy theory about some unnamed "universities".
>>
>>389246247
It could very well be both.

I hate it because I like industrial and power noise.
>>
>>389242337
The only thing I hated about the soundtrack was whenever you paused or sat at a menu for a while it would make some TING sound and it drove me nuts
>>
>>389246297
it's not really a conspiracy, it's just the way things work and you eventually figure it out halfway through your studies one you realize that you always get a passing grade even when you write dumb shit
>>
>>389246262
Sounds like farts and tin can bashing to me. It fits the game perfectly, but on its own this is dumb as fuck. I can't imagine how dull a person's taste in music must be to enjoy this on its own.
>>
I cant even relate to /v/ anymore
>>
>>389246395
Hey don't talk shit about tin can bashing it results in amazing music (unlike this soundtrack)
>>
Funny how people compare Mick's work to noise, seeing as he actually did just take white noise, modulate it at bass frequencies, run it through distortion and have it play alongside his bass line.

I personally love the soundtrack, but that's from someone who loves playing around with synths and making all kinds of noises, especially running it through a pedal board and amps.
>>
>>389246334
Same here.
>>
>>389246584
Does he do music like Merzbow?
>>
>>389246584

Yeah the sound design is fucking great, amazingly tightly controlled frequency content, pure audio wizardry.
>>
>>389246429
Same, I lost all hope for this place when it said DOOM had a dubstep soundtrack.
>>
>>389242337

I would actually pay for watching you missing the imps.
>>

>not blasting Slayer in background while ripping and tearing
>>
>>389245163
This
Doom [2016]'s music was written alongside with seen gameplay (which devs send to Mick Gordon). It's designed to merge with the pace of the game. You can listen it standalone but it might be 7/10 max then but with gameplay it skyrockets to min 9/10.
>>
>>389246867
>industrial djent != dubstep
Industrial sound was with id Software since 1999 (at least). And it was 18 years ago.
