I'm with OP, sometimes I just want to play on my lvl 1 human female character on wow and visit Goldshire without getting PM'd by irl friends asking me what I'm up to. Sometimes I just want to grind away on d3 in solitude while listening to music without friends saying shit like "Isn't our company just as relaxing?". Even if they do give me some space it doesn't last as I'm inevitably going to get PM'd again and I can't go on denying them forever. It's not about hating my friends, but being able to chose myself when I want to play by myself and when I wanna socialize. There's no reason why one would have to broadcast at all times to friends what you are doing...

I've had this problem all my life. Introverts like us who want to choose when to be social and when not and like interacting with others in smaller doses seem weird and confusing to extroverts who just want to be social all the time unless being social is not available for some reason.

If you're doing something alone they think they think it's because you don't have anyone to do your thing with and offer company. If you say you prefer being alone right just now they think you have "problems" with being social and seclude yourself even though you are secretly unhappy. People who prefer to spend large amounts of time by themselves are not valued by society.
