Technically, the game isn't dead. It constantly gets new players and especially so when a new expansion or a patch comes out. But they don't often stay around and that's a problem. Once you get through the "story" the endgame activities are very stale, mostly just as singleplayer as the leveling campaign. Sure there'll be an odd guy who finds enjoyment in running expert or leveling other classes just to level them but most just go play other games.

If you don't raid you aren't really playing endgame anyway and even that shit runs out very fast. This game has a shit holding power and you have 10 seconds to prove me wrong.

By the time one player quits because of "endgame boredom 100+ hours later", the game would have received a bunch of new players. Sure some new players leave too but more people stay in the long run than leave. What matters more to square enix is concurrent players than active players. While active players rises and drops frequently, the concurrent players has been steadily going up according to FFXIVcensus, which means that there are more and more people coming back for major patches which means that more people are likely to pay for expansions or cash shop items which make up the majority of FFXIVs cash flow.

You know, in hindsight i wish we started getting 1 dungeon per patch a lot eariler. 4.1 looks like its going to have plenty of new stuff instead of just 2 new boring dungeons. They'll also probably just add the new dungeon to the already existing EX roulette, giving us a 4 dungeon roulette instead of the 2 we had in Heavensward.

In fact, it had more stuff than 4.1 is going to dole out. It gave both diadem and LoV. Along with all the other stuff like crafting/gathering updates, new housing items, story updates, 24 man raid and all that jazz. While still giving 2 dungeons.

Super Savage is a single overtuned fight meant for .5% of the playerbase so what we're left with that's been revealed so far, is a new PvP mode.

Not an argument. Boring straight lines of uninteresting mob grinder with no creativity whatsoever is an absolute worst dungeon design. You mill mobs for tomestone wage. It's so. fucking. boring. There's literally nothing special about any of the dungeons other than window dressing. Bosses are okay but it took them until the middle of Heavensward to feel like nontrivial fights.

And none of the dungeons feel like real places that exist in the world because they all have FF13 syndrome. Even WoW isn't this bad with dungeon design most of the time because AT LEAST WoW tries something that isn't just a line of mobs every once in a while.

I had some hopes when I saw that ghost guy at the end of the Sirensong Sea that's just kind of like a special tough enemy that you have to silence sometimes but then the rest of the dungeons never actually did anything interesting.

There's so much they could do with dungeons without stepping out of tomestone wage 20 minute regulated fun formula but they just don't want and hey, if they did, people would probably complain and leave if the dungeon required any brainpower to do at all.

It's actually quite obvious.
The thing they excel at is boss battles. Have more of them. Have more fucking raids of varying tiers. I don't care if they reuse models or mechanics, just have more of that because that stuff is what they do best.

In addition to that the game needs something with lastability. PVP isn't going to cut it - their PVP is bad and even skill rework isn't saving it. Maybe mech battles are gonna be better, but probably not. Play to the strengths of MMO and make something with exploration element. Diadem and PotD were ultimately steps in the right direction but they were half assed. Procedurally generated instances with stuff to explore, that's the ticket. What if you had this field with a bunch of enemies that changed every time. You'd have to pick your pulls, maybe kill a boss to open an easier path, maybe manage some kind of resource to make it easier on your party, maybe do a small puzzle here and there. Basically combine the best sides of content such as Lost Canals, Deep Dungeon and Diadem into one piece of gameplay. FF11 fans tell me that this is basically what FF11 endgame was at certain points. The important part here is the necessity to communicate with your party about what they want and picking your goals against a randomized environment. This is intended directly to combat the stale nature of PVE.

Barring that just steal fucking Mythic+ from WoW.

Chocobo Companion is okay, mostly helps with soloing shit in the overworld, like FATEs. It's helpful but not necessary, though the quest is super quick and it'll be level 70 (albeit with no skills) so it's not a big deal.
Retainers will always be good. They're basically extra gold at worst, and the Ventures are a good dump for all your GC seals.
Squadron is supposedly great for getting scripts for your crafters but I don't have any crafting classes up either so what the fuck do I know. I've gotten a group to 50 as well and it should have some new viability with the option to party with them in 4.1.
Rise and Fall of Gentlemen is just an extra comical storyline. There are like, 2 or 3 joke trials in it so you can do it if you like. You can get a couple of emotes and some glamour shit from it too.
Again, I don't have a crafter so I can't say anything there.

Rising ends on Sept. 14th,

- Makes killing shit in the field and in FATEs easier, but it's not required.
- Worth it if you already have a job at 70 and want to offload some gear. Also worth if you want to make a DoL one that can bring back some minions, but if none of that appeals, don't bother
- SE has plans to let you go into dungeons and shit with them in 4.1 so maybe. I do it as something to do since I've done almost everything in the game already. Completely ignorable if you don't want to bother.
- Blue quests are worth doing since they unlock shit like dungeons and trials. And iirc that starts the Hildy quests, which are absolutely worth doing. Do them mother fucker.
- Crafting is almost a game entirely unto itself. It's a huge timesink and moneytrap if you don't bot and/or make extensive use of macros. Worth it if you enjoy it, if you just want to PvE and not bother, you'll still be fine. Handiest part is being able to repair your own gear really.

that said, stat weights never account for class mechanics entirely on their own. for example, SkS is a god-tier stat on SAM, but only with a proper understanding of the job's mechanics and the realization that downtime greatly devalues SkS can you appropriately gear samurai. whereas naked stat weights would probably put it below det and crit, where it doesn't belong

or for a more obvious example, monks and bards love crit even though it's bad because they get crazy procs off of it. Oh, for crafting/gathering it's not much of a pain in the ass compared to HW way back when. Probably the only yellow scrip stuff you'll get/grind for are the main hands for the gatherers, otherwise everything else crafted AND melded is superior.
Remember to do your quests. Gives a lot of XP and materia. Also there is no weekly cap for craft/gathering this time around.

If you're worried about grinding red scrips, Grade IV materia are really cheap (25 scrip), Grade V being 400, but even then it's managable, moreso with Zhloe's Turn Ins.

The scrips are just another currency to buy stuff with. Like, you can either buy materia with gil from the marketboard, or get grade IVs and Vs with scrips at a more reasonable rate.

Crafting melds have different variations between them, I think gathering is all the same, only variation is budget.

There's also unique materials you can buy with scrips, then sell on the marketboard for a good price.
Zhloe's turn ins are very easy and give you good scrips and decent gil. Imo the gathering part of it is much easier than the crafting, due to gathering being simpler and with how it's own collectibles work.

Honestly, i think it might be too late for doing it map only. I went from 15mil to 40 mil by grinding maps nearly every day since Uznair came out and i did it in a low population server where stuff sells for a lot so i don't think you would get the same results in one month. Having all crafters at 70 is a HUGE advantage however, you could easily triple your gains by crafting stuff using the things you drop from the maps. Either way, you might aswell try, no real reason not to.

Considering DPS and Healers should never have aggro under any circumstances, no glass cannons don't exist in the method you're thinking of. However, the different dps roles all have different tiers of Vitality/HP, melds withstanding.

500 hps is a pretty big chunk, man. That's like 20-25% of the hps you should be doing.

How often are you using Regen and Medica 2? Or Cure 2 vs Cure 1? You might just be allocating your MP usage on more costly spells. Check your Overheal percentage as well and compare that to other healers. If it's high (imo 30% or more is considered "high") try substituting your Cure 2s for Cure 1s, and Medica 2s for Medica 1s.

Also Lagresse is only a 90 second CD and it's free HPS boost.

Regardless of the above, always make sure you're using Lucid when it's off CD and you're below 70% MP. Thin Air should also be used as often as possible when doing burst dps with Stone 4, or when you know big heals are going to be needed (Ukehi).
