Bethesda used to be pretty great at making dungeon crawlers. But then they lost all their talent and everything went to shit.

Daggerfall is still the better dungeon crawler, just a shame that 99% of the game, being just about everything outside of the dungeons, is total ass. The actual dungeon crawling of the game is great though.

DOSBox by default emulates very few CPU cycles. I believe the hotkey to increase them is ctrl+f12. Hit that motherfucker until it runs butter smooth.

Actually to append to that, the game will be unplayably fast if you increase them too much. Just get it to the point where it has a stable framerate and don't go overboard.

Ya except I was young and didn't have time for all that reading bullshit (which made the end of the tutorial level annoying since you have to get out the manual) so I basically played it like modern day GTA. Breaking into people's homes etc.

Honestly if someone made a game like that again and it was actually good it would sell like crazy because of counter programming as it would be different than everything else right now and for the nostalgia factor.

It would also show a developer willing to take risks. That's the main reason I hate this SJW era. It means everyone wants to play safe. You'll never be shocked by your entertainment ever again.

In all fairness, every major fad burns out and causes people to resent it eventually. As nostalgic as I feel for the edgy comic books of the 80s and 90s, they started to blur together and feel so generic that I have mixed feelings about a major return to that style.

Too much of a good thing, I guess. Also doesn't help that people started to copy the superficial trappings of Frazetta or Luis Royo but wound up with watered-down garbage infesting the market.
