But most people who liked Jak 1 were expecting the same silly platformer. It got weirdly edgier and didn't bring anything new to the table that hadn't existed in some form in other games

I love Jak II but you can't deny there was some bullshit in there. The mission where you have to shoot down all those flying KGs with the turret was the worst on hard mode. Not impossible, but annoying nonetheless.

jak 2 being hard is a meme. most people who believes this only played it as a kid, 90% of the game is just spin jump and shoot with the yellow gun

With proper controls the game difficulty would have been perfect because it's one of those games where you have to think, not run like a headless chicken, but with shit gunplay, drive controls and insta lock-on enemy attacks no wonder people say it sucks.

Funny I played 1 but never beat it. I beat 2 and 3 and ended up liking the sequels more. I'm not completely sure of myself which I prefer but I think 3 is slightly better if I remember correctly.
