At this point, I'm sure everyone has seen or heard of the great Dean Takahashi's gameplay video of cuphead. his excuse of the poor gameplay was because he was going in the game blind and that other peoples gameplay videos only look good because they had time to practice and get good before actually recording and submitting their gameplay footage.

Now my question for you guys is how good are you at transitioning to new games? Can you adapt quickly even if its a game genre that you hardly or never play at all? (i.e. someone who mainly plays FPS going into something like God Hand)

That would be a reasonable argument for any genre other than a 2D platformer. There's no such thing as a person who plays video games without being experienced with this type of game.
