what are some racing games that can be played via LAN?
no matter if it's old vidya or newer, but aiming to the lightest possible and can be played with bots

Sometimes we are in a group of smaller people, hell, right now there's only me and a friend, some more AI playing with us would be nice

Hm, I see. Well "Flatout 2" is my all time favourite Lan game, the mini games are brilliant and even the rampage arena and driving is fun.
Cant recommend you anything else, sadly, since over time everyone dropped the Lan ball for online multiplayer.
Maybe check out "Blur" and "Split/Second", pretty fun, could have had Lan aswell
