The efficiency pastebin is just so you don't get frustrated by roadblocks.
You don't have to follow it to a T but it might be useful to know if there's something you should be growing because you may suddenly need it for to progress.

It's not a good feeling when you find out that you need to grow a certain crop for a request and missed your opportunity to do so, so know you have to wait a year for that season to come around again.
