>Third person game with swords in a medieval setting
>first person shooter
>third person shooter
It seems like every game is like this.

first person medieval games only work out if the player is expected to have situational awareness

That's not it. It's that I'm seeing only a handful of settings and gameplay styles now. Gaming seems to not be creative anymore.
No. It's just that that is all you're looking for. There are tons of different styles that come out on a weekly basis. But all you look forward to are these types of games. In fact, there are less FPS/TPS games coming out recently than there were 10 years ago.
Try
>Racing Games
>Sports Games
>Turn Based RPGs
>CRPGs
>Tactical RPGs
>MMORPGs
>4X Style Strategy games
>RTS Games
>Grand Strategy Games
>Indie Platformers
>Vehicular Shooters
>P&C Adventure Games
>VN Adventure Games
>Fighting Games
Go through recently released games on Steam or GoG and you'll find a shit ton of new stuff and a very, very small percentage of it will be FPS, TPS, or Medieval Fantasy RPGs.

I propose a 2nd person shooter.

Interesting. This brings up an interesting point. Why do we call it a third person shooter when this is exactly what's going on in them?

Not exactly, if it was 2nd person you would be looking through the eyes of the enemy npcs.

This. 2nd person shooter is that first boss in battletoads.
