This. The games are designed so that you never unsub. If they gave you your carrot on a stick immediately after you start playing the business model would never work

The level grinding is literally the best part. Most MMOs don't have shit to do once you hit the level cap. You grind some shit for some nice gear then there's nothing to do once you get the gear.

The problem is that MMOs have become about endgame. They used to be about the adventure itself.

Because EQ and WoW did endgame really well. The genre is struggling to incorporate that with a proper mid-game. XIV for instance focuses on story.
