When you aren't aiming down the sights you are basically just holding the gun in front of you, you aren't exactly aiming, just pointing. When you ADS, you shoulder the rifle/aim the handgun. You're taking the time to steady your aim and get a more accurate shot. Especially by using the irons like how they're supposed to be used. It would be the same kind of thing as taking a picture. Are you just holding the camera down at your side without using the view finder? Well ok, but you are going to get the "perfect" picture; you need to look in the finder, steady things, get the right balance, etc, then shoot.

Why people have such a vicious hatred over ADS is beyond me. It isn't THAT bad. It can be bad if the game uses it badly, like if when you aren't ADS-ing you accuracy is 100% not going to hit anything but when you are ADS-ing you have laser perfect accuracy and a perfect straight line of bullets. But that's the dev's fault.
