I don't know if Kiwami/0 have it but the Gacha Drink raises the bar by at least half and gives you an item, so if that's in them always buy that. Otherwise you can probably go back to MEB and ask the guy there about whatever hostess you're trying to get with and he should give you a spiel again. Either way, when it comes to hostesses just pander to them and if the conversation looks like she's pissed about something or trying to steer the conversation away just do your best not to belittle her.

Keep in mind all you need to get is where the stop is, anywhere past that doesn't advance the end bar so you don't need to worry. Only extend your visit if you haven't hit the stop.

It's one of the few times that playing a series out of release order is okay because 0 just plays so well into 1. He meant nothing to me when played 1 regardless. He was a coward who couldn't stand Kiryu being the center of attention, hated that Yumi liked Kiryu more than him, and had a terrible final boss fight. Even Jingu put up more of a fight than Nishiki. The only decent scene he even had in the original was his suicide and even that I couldn't care about.

People starting with 0 will have a new perspective but you just didn't care about him at all in the original. Sera as well since just just suddenly dies moments after he's introduced. My first playthrough I didn't even know who died when I went to the funeral it was so abrupt.

The base PS4 it's 30 fps with framedrops, constant screen tearing, several second load times for battles, and I believe 900p. On the Pro it's 30 fps solid with the only framedrops being in karaoke (Though I never noticed anything in the demo but it could have changed for retail), no screen tearing, instant loading into fights, and it's 1080p. Fighting also feels fluid but way too light for everything but that's not really the engine's fault.

Seriously though, her part goes on for hours even if you ignore everything but the main story. Constant "practices" when all you need is Idol Heat and to never drop a combo to beat anything which is incredibly easy due to how lenient the timing is, constant scenes that aren't cutscenes which take forever to get through, and having to deal with wandering back and forth between Dyna Chair and somewhere else. Haven't played 6 yet but the combat does look worryingly barebones and janky. One of the things I like about the Yakuza series is that it's almost purely iterative. Each game is more or less the same as the last but with various improvements and additions. Yakuza 6 seems to throw all that out and try to reinvent the wheel and as a result it's not only less refined than the last 3-4 games in the series, but it has less content than them too. And the parts that were supposed to make it worth it, such as new physics, aren't actually good at all. If they really want to stick with the dragon engine then it might be another 2-4 games before it's developed enough that it's as good as the rest of the series.

The hokuto no ken spinoff is apparently using the 0 engine though. Either they don't consider themselves to have enough experience to develop 2 dragon engine games simultaneously, or they're admitting that the dragon engine is actually not that good.

The way the Kiwami finishers are nestled into the early upgrades reminds me a bit of The Wonderful 101 since one of its crucial early upgrades is also bought and pretty important by the second level. I'm glad I saw some footage talking about the Kiwami finishers before playing. If the game had a one time warning covering the importance of the finishers going forward, at least recommending the Rush finisher before proceeding to the funeral, Shimano's fight would have been much a much smoother experience for a lot of players. Maybe the fight in Yuya's bar could have had its boss introduce the regen mechanic but since you have three characters pummeling him, it wouldn't have much effect and demonstrate how important the finishers are when Kiryu is fighting alone for the majority. I'm not into handholding, but I can see how an oversight about a crucial upgrade can leave a bad impression at the start, or maybe it should be up to the player to discern the upgrades importance for themselves and Shimano acts as a lesson to those that didn't notice the importance of the Kiwami finishers when examining the upgrade trees.
