So after playing WoW since Wrath til now I can say the following with conviction.... Blizzard doesn't care about supplying a satisfying gaming experience as much as they care about making the game as addicting and grind-filled as possible to make as much money as they possibly can. Big surprise, right? But it goes further. I am convinced that they have so much data on players, that they manipulate "RNG" drops in accordance with how they think they can get the player to keep paying to play. For instance, my sub was up last month, finally, and the NIGHT it's about to end, literally just an hour or two left, I magically get a ilvl 970 legendary trinket as a reward from a random Arena skirmish - as if Blizzard just knew how to make me want to keep playing. Another thing I noticed is that whenever I would return to WoW after long periods of not playing, at the very beginning of my subs, I would have a miraculously lucky drop of some sort occur .. my most recent was Reins of Invincible from Lich King dropped the first hour I re-subbed. Before that, I re-subbed and got the mount from Ragnaros to drop my first hour in Fire Lands. I'm convinced Blizzard does these to remind players "Yea WoW is great, look, I get amazing drops!" to incentivize you to dedicate yourself to the game again at the onset of a new subscription. Just think about it... imagine the amount of data on player-behavior they have and how this allows them to accurately predict how to get players to continue subscribing through their deployment of "RNG" activities. It's technically not illegal for them to do any of this, although some would certainly call it unethical. Nonetheless it's completely possibly and completely logical for them to do this kind of stuff under everyone's radars to be as profitable as they possibly can. Nobody would ever be the wiser and they would be making extra billions

tldr; I'm discussing strange things I've noticed while playing WoW that makes me believe Blizzard manipulates RNG
>>
Take it to Reddit faggot
>>
>>389006015

which sub reddit? I will. The actual WoW one will downvote it so quick, Blizzard themselves have their tendrils all over that sub reddit.
>>
I just wonder if anyone else has had this kind of experience. Cause if it happens to multiple people then we basically know it's occuring
>>
>>389005774

ok

1. Blizzard doesn't give a shit about making an addicting and grind-filled game as possible anymore. This is evidenced by the fact that they Nerf anything remotely worth grinding into the fucking ground and time gate everything. Blizzard is interested in making the Animal Crossing of MMOs something you play for an hour or two a day forever.

Then every few months they add some sort of catch up mechanic that invalidates the previous time gates so people will resubscribe for the new ones.

2. I frankly don't believe the drop rate thing. Not because I put it past Blizzard, but simply because it doesn't benefit them in anyway. You can say HURR DURR BUT NOW IM INCENTIVISED TO KEEP PLAYING.

Explain to me how exactly a rare drop encourages you to keep playing? You already resubscribed. You are already gearing up to stand in the next time gated line they are making. Giving you a rare drop does fuck all to encourage you to keep playing. Especially something that would of encouraged you to keep playing for longer.

3. Go back to fucking reddit with your completely subjective, self contradictory horseshit. If Blizzards entire goal is to make you grind more, why would it give you something that you would grind for?

It is known.

Avoid Actiblizz if you can.

>Blizzard doesn't give a shit about making an addicting and grind-filled game as possible anymore

You then go on to describe how they do exactly that, but by fragmenting it into days now. Do you know what daily quests and playing the game daily does to your brain? Through neuroplasticity, playing WoW on a daily basis strengthens the neural pathways in your brain associated with WoW. It's similar to working out your bicep muscle everyday, it will grow.

>Explain to me how exactly a rare drop encourages you to keep playing?

Because when you receive a big reward/amazing drop you get happy, aka a rush of dopamine, which tells your body that "this game = survival" because it gave me dopamine.

>Go back to fucking reddit with your completely subjective, self contradictory horseshit.

What are you, 12? Or a Blizzard employee?

cont.

Gaming in general lacks enforceable ethical standards and basically everything has gone to shit. It's now just a gold mine for sociopaths everywhere to do every shady shit they have ever dreamed of and theres nobody to punish them, just shareholders rewarding them for "creatively adding value".
>>
>>389005774
Pretty sad Blizzard is trying to kill the first ever MMO. You'd think being a video game company, they'd have more respect for it.

Exactly. I am so happy just 1 other person can relate and knows what I'm talking about. There are zero laws covering all the potential possibilities these gaming companies can be doing behind closed doors. It's staggering to contemplate how deep this rabbit hole can go. I saw a TED talk about how gaming companies have been hiring psychologists to make games as addicting as possible. The common man in all his ignorance has no chance against this type of "magic" so to speak.

>What are you, 12?

No, but apparently your deductive skills are.

If your shit theory had any merit, and Blizzard is interested in manipulating drop rng to keep players. Wouldn't it make a 100 times more sense for your luck to increase at the end of a billing cycle? Rather than at the beginning?

Once you sub to wow in the current way it's designed you are either going to quit as soon as you run out of content, which with the current trickle is going to be at the end of the first month. So giving you a rare drop, especially right away, does nothing.

Or you are going to keep playing until the current content drip is over. Which is going to be in a few months. Which once again means a rare drop 3 months ago means nothing.

You can't be this stupid. You just can't.

Dumb ass, read what I said in my original post.

"For instance, my sub was up last month, finally, and the NIGHT it's about to end, literally just an hour or two left, I magically get a ilvl 970 legendary trinket as a reward from a random Arena skirmish - as if Blizzard just knew how to make me want to keep playing."

OP stop samefagging

>>
>Playing wow in 2017

Stfu and go play a moba, a real man's game.
>>
>>389008238
Yeah, like HotS
>>
>>389008170

OP here. I am done arguing with that retard .. Only interested in hearing more proof from others
>>
>>389008238

Isn't a moba just like WoW PvP with 4 buttons instead of 20? Thus making it less complex and more noobish? Serious inquiry here, not trying to bait or troll, genuinely interested.

lurk more 2 years is a good time, don't make a thread on /v/ expecting to actually have discussion, you wont get it
stop with reddit spacing, dont be a faggot
also don't use reddit slang like tl;dr, people will instantly call you a faggot
also you're a faggot
>>
So is this the WoW thread? Are we starting them like MH threads now?

Monk best class, as long as you aren't Pandaren.
>>
>>389008550

Reddit spacing is easier for people to read, call me a faggot all you want

I specifically read about it in a psychology book for composing email-marketing campaigns. If you want people to read your rants, you need the reddit spaces

Sorry to break it to you ;)
>>
If you started playing in Wrath you don't know shit about the game anyway.

They do this with all their games, it's Hearthstone that started all this.
Blizzard doesn't have true random drops, their drop system works like a casino slot machine.

>>389009124

There he is. Was waiting for the Vanilla / BC fag to emerge.

>"U dont know nuffin about 40 mans!"
>>
>>389008369
I've never gotten a rare drop immediately after resubbing. Nor do I get them before my sub is about to expire and I really doubt that I'm the outlier compared to your story since way more people would have caught on if it were actually true.
>>
>>389006697

>Defending Blizzard

I think you should go back to fucking reddit.
>>
>>389009220

It's hard to say because they can figure out what works for each individual player based on his behavioral data. What makes me want to keep playing might not be the same for you, and they therefore may adapt different types of experiences as such. Look, all I'm saying is there is the potential for Blizzard to be doing things under our radar since there is so much unknown with RNGs. It's completely computerized and therefore RNG just opens a door for possible malicious manipulations out of our sight. And if it can make them billions of more dollars, what would stop them if nobody knew they were doing it? The suspicions are there.
>>
>>389009220
>>389009220
>>389009220

Another thing they do...... Why are they always shuffling abilities and specs in PvP? Sure, I understand new fresh stuff is fun. But they also nerf and shuffle who is OP or not in PvP that is very suspicious. They do it in a way that makes you desire to level an alt to be a more OP class, only for them to then neft that OP class in the next patch or expansion so you have to change classes, again.

Look at Chess. The game has been identical for centuries, people still love it. But Blizzard doesn't do this, they shuffle who is OP and who isn't so you're constantly trying to keep up. And they just keep on taking that sub money while you try.
