Not hard to understand that TnA + Waifus can sell a game, even making cool, muscular male characters is appealing to this kind of audience.

Too many western devs are too worried about triggering ham planets, Jap's are much more receptive to overly sexual designs and couldn't give a shit about what their western audience thinks.

That's what's so odd. The worst companies like EA and Activision, who only see games as a product and not a passion, are still trying to appeal to smaller audiences.

Admittedly they try not to step too far into any one direction, and try to keep the main audience (18-30 males) interested in their games. Blizzard and Overwatch are the perfect example.

>Overwatch continues to be incredibly popular

They wanted to have their cake and eat it too, and it's working. Sex sells for everybody, and they've made that work while not being too overt about it. The main audience get their SFM/Maya porn, the rare tumblrites that actually play games get to feel that they aren't being discriminated against or objectified. Everybody, somehow, wins.

Though that's a game with the Blizzard pedigree to boost it. A smaller or budding studio would be better off appealing to straight up TnA.

Western publishers don't publish content specifically for male gamers anymore because enough have been cucked that they will buy it and shout down anyone who disagree's.

The Japs don't have a feminized society (yet) so publishers still need to make exactly what guys want to get their money.

Yes, that's a part of it, but you're ignoring that they ALSO appeal to the female gamers more too. They put in all the perfect prettyboys that fujoshis drool over. Basically, Japanese designers make appealing to the audience a core goal, while western designers seem to think that's foul play somehow and focus on virtue signaling instead.

Nah. The difference is that video games don't have the stigma over there that they do in the US. In Japan, everyone plays video games of all kinds so Jap developers don't need to make them more like movies in order to appeal to a demographic wider than suburban white high school nerd boys.
