What the fug was the Twilight Grove even about?

It felt so out of place. Nobody mentions it - NPCs or players. I always visited it whenever I was passing by but it was just the portal that didn't take you anywhere.

This image is messing me up.
I'd always visit the Shimmering Flats on every character I leveled, and I leveled a lot of characters. For my very first level 40 mount back in vanilla, I skinned the basilisks for leather here, the ones that spawned real close together.

I'm glad I quit but I'll always miss this game.

I hung out here so much, or at least I remember it the most. I liked the little fishing shack in the northwest edge for some reason. I remember checking out Deadwind Pass and accidentally stumbling into the basement of Karazhan in vanilla. I thought I found something so cool and new because I found out I could res behind the bars, but people knew about it already. Everything was so fascinating and spooky to ezplore.

Quit just before NH release, what do i miss so far? Is affli still decent?
