People just think Venusaur is ugly even though he's a badass swamp monster rather than a fat pregnant looking lizard fuck and an obese turtle who can't see his own dick.

That said grass type is resisted by a great deal of the Pokemon you commonly come across in gen 1, so his early advantage against gyms is kinda offset by that.

Venusaur is my favorite starter but I think Squirtle is probably the best pick mechanically. Fire was always a shit type until Fairy came along.
