I'm not from the united states but, is it true that your mc donalds had n64 and then gamecubes to play on the kid's play area?

damn, I'm jelly
>>
Yes. I've also seen this in Canada.

But it was long after GCN came out and everyone who wanted one already had one.
>>
Last McDonalds I went to had a touch screen game.
>>
>>388899060
I've never seen a station like that, but a local McDonald's used to have touch-screen game stations. They removed them at some point when I was away for about a year though. I don't think most stores find the maintenance required is worth it.
>>
Yes. My local one had tony hawk pro skater on them all
>>
The one near my house when I was younger had a station with like 6 Gamecubes. Unfortunately they were on a (very short) timer before they restarted. Don't know why.

Went to a McDonald's once as a kid on a road trip, and it had one of those. Too bad all it had was some Winnie the Pooh game.
>>
>>388899138

Can confirm that they're in Canada. Went to Lake Ontario years ago to see an old friend of the family and during a stopover in the GTA they had one built right into the table so you could eat and play Luigi's Mansion at the same time.
>>
Is anyone gonna talk about Moon Man?
>>
Those kid stations were sweet, I mostly remember the N64 ones.
>>
>>388899060
In 1999 I had my 9th birthday at McD's with all my friends. We had McD's pizza, and ice cream. The indoor playground area they had was massive, or it seemed massive at the time, and it was all to us. And we played Mario Kart 64 and Pokemon Stadium (which was brand new at the time) at the video game stations like in the OP's pic. It was glorious. Best birthday.
>>
At one time, yeah.

Man, Mac Tonight really needs a revival.

I never saw a gamecube, but the McDonald's that was by where I used to live had an N64 up by the front counter.

>A line of personal-sized pizzas was first seen in the late 1970s in test-market stores near interstate highways around Milwaukee and Madison. In Canada (c. 1992–99), the pizza originally began as a family-sized pizza that was brought out to the table by an employee and placed on a raised rack in the centre of the table. Later it was scaled down to a personal-sized pizza. However, variations have found their way into some international markets such as India (the pie-like "Pizza McPuff"). McDonald's also test marketed a 14-inch, round, traditional-style pizza in Evansville, Indiana, and nearby Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1989.[62] By 1991, the McDonald's test markets for pizza had grown to over 500 McDonald's locations before the pizza test was placed on hold.[63] Pizza was discontinued in most restaurants by 2000. The reason for eliminating the pizza from the menu was that the time to cook a pizza took 11 minutes, and McDonald's wanted to keep its reputation for fast service.
>>
MOON MAN MOON MAN CAN'T YOU SEE?
>>
>>388899986
They used to serve pizza at McDonald's and it was fucking awesome. But I was also a kid so maybe I overrated it. This was in Canada mind you, maybe by 1999 they got rid of their pizza down the states.

Not here. I live in Mexico-lite, and if that program was ever implemented, it was rapidly taken down for loss of console.
>>
>>388899060
Doubt they would do something like this again. Franchisees are more interested in self service kiosks in their stores. McDonald's is going through a huge process of renovating their US stores to have a more modern look and "urban" feel. They are trying to attract the cafe crowd, vidya is not a part of this image. Even the play places are getting demolished and not rebuilt in many locations.

>>388899986
Certain McDonald's in prominent locations have pizza. There's a huge 2 story busy one in my city that has the playplace, an arcade, serves pizza and food you can't buy at a regular McDonald's, hosts birthday parties.

That's fucking sad. People like to shit on McDonald's (much of it deserved) but it was genuinely a great place for families in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s.

Yeah. They're working to get rid of the tacky red roofs and streamline their buildings. I don't mind the modern exteriors but my personal favorite are the retro 50s styled ones. believe they're trying to move away from the kid-oriented, family friendly image they had for decades, into a more "hip" hangout spot marketed at millenials. It's not really much of a place to bring your family to eat dinner at anymore. These stores make about 80% of their profit through the drive thru anyways.

It's kind of a dumb thing to do if that's the case. I can see why they'd shift away from kiddification, with how much this stuff has gone out of style, but there's no way you can make a place that sells cheap soft-serve and hamburgers "hip".

Then again though, it's the same company that rolled out a whole marketing campaign without realizing they were suggesting people stick their dicks in their cheeseburgers. I can see them trying to pull a radio shack and shortening their name to "The D"

You ever wonder how Santabot feels about how his interpretation of Mac Tonight and the resurgence? I remember being there when his YTMND just got brought back into relevance and the very first edits were being made. There was an anon that claimed to be him a few times, posting his content. I couldn't say for sure if it was him, though I did discuss with him. Pretty interesting to watch Mac Tonite go from the commercial to Hotwheels to YTMND and now Moonman and Tf2 Spy loadouts. It really is interesting for someone as interested in internet archaeology as I am. I can't be the only one, can I?

I remember seeing one when we stopped midway through a town on vacation, I thought it was pretty neat.

That happened with our local one, and I understand why, but it's still sort of disheartening.

I absolutely hate MCDonald's food compared to pretty much every other chain out there, I feel like it's almost always bland and tasteless, it's pretty much the equivalent of ramen noodles in the sense that they're dirt cheap and at least fill you up for a bit but not particularly enjoyable. Whereas I enjoy a lot of other fast food places, MD's pretty much solely exists to be a place to eat when you're broke and have to have food on the go. It was a great place to take children to because of the play area to keep them occupied in the ten or so minutes it takes to get your food, and the happy meals are exciting for them with a toy, and the price is so low that even the most destitute families can afford to take their kids there every once in a while, but if you don't have kids, there's really no reason to go. I know I avoid the place when at all possible just because when I eat out, I want something that's at least a little enjoyable, even if I have to spend more to get it.

Changing the look to a modern one and reinventing themselves as a semi-upscale place for anyone instead of simply a family-kid oriented place might bring back their customer base in the long run if they implement it right, but McDonald's did have the kid market pretty much cornered, narrow though it is. No kid cares to go to Wendy's or Burger King or anywhere else really when they can visit the ball pit and get a cool toy in their meal, and that means the entire family is getting pulled along too. I don't think the food will ever improve to the point where people will really find it a draw over anyone else, especially now that other chains are starting to get real competitive in their prices as well.
>>
>>388906338
