Why can't there ever be worthwhile NPC blacksmiths who actually make stuff worth buying? You can make better gear than every vendor in the game within like 10 minutes of starting to train that skill, and can find every item NPCs sell in dungeons for free by the dozens. They literally only exist to trade all your extra loot in for gold.

They should make blacksmiths who sell unique gear only they can make, or make weapons you find it dungeons shoddy and degraded so that a fancy, professionally forged brand new weapon is actually worth something.

load the quicksave where you're swinging
mash console key so that the console opens and you pause before the game finishes loading
prid his refid, then disable him
unpause and the swing will hit nothing
then enable him again

also i don't know how you can justify using an exploit like that but not just spawning in the iron ingots and subtracting their cost from your money
