What is the best game with a Job changing or class changing system?

I'm looking for something new to play. I feel like I've already hit the notables.
>>
Bravely Default. But you have most likely tried that already.
>>
FFT, FFTA, FFTA2 are all pretty good.
>>
Oh man now I want to play FF:T again.

Original or Advanced? Never played the original, played the fuck out of advanced when I was younger like 10 years+ ago.
>>
>>388860743
Yeah I've played Bravely Default. Admittedly, I haven't played Bravely Second. I remember everyone was hyped before Bravely Second came out. Then it released and nobody talked about it ever again. It's on my list but I want to hear some other opinions first.

>>388860763
Beat them all.
>>
>>388860679
FF5
Tactics Ogre series
Langrisser series, but you can't freely switch classes around
>>
>>388860679
Golden Sun's class system is original but I can't really call it good
>>
>>388860816

>find a secret combination of djinn or equip an incredibly rare item to change your class
>"secret" class is just total garbage compared to stacking more djinn of the same attribute.
>even worse you "randomly" swap classes while using your powerful abilities.
>>
>>388861024
Played FF5. I've heard the Tactics Ogre remake for PSP I think it was quite good but I haven't tried that.

>>388861069
Beat that too.
>>
>>388860957
I really enjoyed Bravely Second.

Its a fair bit more light-hearted (or even stupid) in parts with the dialogue.

Main character has some idiotic catch phrase. Edea is food obsessed turned up to 11.

Other than that - its good enough, and if you enjoyed the job system in BD, BS is more of the same but with some real neat new jobs.

I'd definitely recommend it, sounds like it'll be right up your street on the gameplay front.
>>
>>388861340
I admittedly also never truly finished BD,
I got immensely bored "redoing" the story
>>
Disgaea. If you have a good grasp on the mechanics you can push any class to the limit.
>>
Dragon Quest III and IX are great.
>>
>>388860679
Have you tried Final Fantasy Dimensions?
>>
>>388861613
This if you are a patient man. Disgaea is great but the postgame needs massive grinding (the main game can mostly be done with none or very little).
>>
>>388861948
I have not heard of this game.

>>388861613
Beat them all. Plat on 4.

>>388861896
I loved DQ9.
>>
>>388861510
You aren't missing anything. Bravely Default is a terribly boring and generic game. The combat is the only interesting thing and then it's only near the end when you have enough classes to do anything synergistic with them.
>>
>>388860679

Atelier Iris 3, and yes, i'm serious
>>
>>388862093
>I have not heard of this game.
Because it's on mobile. It's pretty much a sequel to FFV.
>>
Ogre tactics, Bravely, FFT.

Dude I really enjoyed Bravely Second, it was quite /comfy/, the music was better in BD though, but apart from that I liked it more
>>
Is anyone else looking forward to Lost Order? It's being made by the same Director, Artist, and Composer of Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Vagrant Story, and kind of Final Fantasy 12 (The Director dropped out) and Kind of Crimson Shroud (Had a different artist).
>>
>>388862621
Whilst BD > BS regarding music, BS isnt BAD - just a bit different. More guitars I think, more bells & cymbals if that was even possible.

There are some fantastic tracks tho. I have a dickload of plays from both albums.

what were they thinking when they came up the Calculator?
>>
>>388862742
Isn't that a mobile game?
>>388860679
Try 4 Heroes of Light. It's just proto-Bravely. It takes some getting used to and is different enough that it won't feel exactly like more of the same. Music is amazing and the characters are decent. I liked it a lot as a BD/BS fan. Use a guide for the first few segments or else a party member might leave with some of your gear.

Start at Squire/Chemist, gain class EXP (separate from character EXP). Every action you do as that class generates EXP for that class. When you hit specific levels, on this chart, you unlock further classes. You earn Job Points (JP) on classes too, which you spend on skills. Any order, nonlinearly, so long as you have enough JP. So you can save up a shitton of points and buy a very potent ability, or you can buy 3 cheaper but more situational ones.

The great part of it is that you get a secondary skill slot, so if you play Squire for a bit, unlock a few skills like Throw Stone and passives like JP Up, unlock Knight at LV2 Squire, you can then switch to that Knight and equip the Squire ability set into your secondary, and use those abilities you learned previously. And all Reactive & Passive abilities you learn can be equipped too, so if you train up a Time Mage and learn the Float passive ability, you can be a motherfucking Samurai floating around like it's trivial
>>
>>388861108
Oh shut up faggot
>>
Class changing systems suck.
>>
>>388865664
It's like FFV's, only you can pick multiple different abilities in different categories from jobs, and you learn the specific abilities rather than just level the job.
>>
>>388866907
Yeah I guess if you're too dumb to handle party synergy.
>>
>>388867309
Games are objectively better when characters have to stick to their class.
>>
>>388867506
Games are objectively better when every map is a single narrow hallway, when you can't upgrade equipment, and when your skills are granted to you automatically when you hit certain levels.
>>
>>388867506
this is false

ff4 is one of the most boring games on planet earth because there is no variation, all bosses can only be challenged the same way
>>
>>388863261
what game?
>>
>>388860679
Ogre Battle 64. Just dont buy a Book of Annihilation or the game is too easy.
>>
>>388867803
Haru-Uru.
>>
>>388867635
Nice strawman lad.
>>388867664
That has to do with FF4 being pretty shit all around anyways.
>>
>>388867506
On what merit?
>>
>>388868132
>Nice strawman lad.
It really isn't. Each of those cases takes away options from the player. Just like taking away job customization from the player.

It results in a boring and usually too easy game because you're not making enough meaningful decisions
>>
Dokapon Kingdom for Wii/PS2.
>>
>>388868306
More immersive, more incentive to try different characters, and less tedium.
>>388868328
Your entire argument falls on the idea that if you can't change your class then it has zero customization. The best method is simply to have a skill point system where you can slowly build your character up. Classes aren't always inherently stuck to one single build.
>>
>>388861281
also the ogre battle games while not traditional JRPG has a great class system too.
>>
ffx2
>>
>>388868878
>Your entire argument falls on the idea that if you can't change your class then it has zero customization.
No, that it has less. And less is a bad thing in this case.

Vivi and Steiner have a class synergy in FF9, with the sword enchantment deal, and their classes are locked in. That's fine. Eventually you'll probably get bored of it.

A job system doesn't suffer that. You can have a team of 1 black mage enchanting 3 knights or whatever. Or do a different synergy, or run all 4 ninjas or whatever and throw everything including the kitchen sink at the enemy. It's your choice to synergize or even possibly make mistakes (anti-synergy).

Locking classes in is boring as fuck. I guess maybe if you're 9 years old and playing FF9, it might hold your attention.
>>
>>388860816
The original is fantastic and the best in the franchise hands down. Try to play the PSP version with the slow animation fix if you can.
>>
>>388861275
Ninjas and samurai were pretty damn good but summons were just so overpowered that doing the hybrid classes would be a pain a lot of the time.
>>
>>388860679
Vandal Hearts
>>
>>388860816
I love advance, but if you're still here then definitely try to play the original.
If you do, invest in Ramza being a dragoon.

Maybe I'll just play them in order. That sounds good. I don't remember advance being particularly long.
>>
>>388860679
The Ogre Battle franchise is pretty good. I recommend March of the Black Queen or Ogre Battle 64. It's a nice take on a strategy/tactics game.
>>
>>388869308
>No, that it has less. And less is a bad thing in this case.
Or maybe every character having its own strengths and weaknesses, and having to work under those limitations makes for a more satisfying experience? What's fun getting 10-20 characters but over half of them will end up being under the same exact build anyways? They will all play the same more or less. Freedom for the sake of freedom can be a bad thing.

Why would they be the same build? I don't think you've ever played FFT

>Freedom for the sake of freedom can be a bad thing.
Yes but not in this case. You're free to select one class per one character and stick with them on that the entire game, enjoying your limitations self-imposed
>>
>>388869972
No other H-game comes close to it. It has over 20 costumes, which are essentially classes. You get your standard RPG classes and classes tailored for sex. It's fucking great.
>>
>>388869484
The Shining Force that never was, fucking sequels man.
>>
>>388870453
Eh whatever, this argument is pointless because I won't come out of it convincing you otherwise. I'll just sum up my entire argument as thinking games like Etrian Odyssey are better than games like Final Fantasy.
>>
I want to play an SRPG now. Phantom Brave or FFT?
