/v/ my friend is arguing with me about loot crates in games. I'm trying to explain that they are the second most cancerous style of earning things in game, just right behind a cash shop. Possibly even more cancerous since you can't guarantee what you will get like a cash shop.
His argument that moot crate style of microtransaction is beneficial for the developer while being fun for the player.
Help me out here. I'm shit at debating so I need your combined autistic power to see me through this argument.
Please!!
If you can, make a point for or against it. I know devil's advocate can help strengthen an argument as well. Basically it's a free license to shitpost in this single thread so I can see how other people argue it.
>beneficial for the developer while being fun for the player
just because you don't like it doesn't change this

I guess I just can't see how it is fun. Can you elaborate for me?
He's now saying there's no proper way to balance earning skins in game. Because no matter what you'll have people mad that they couldn't earn them because they don't have enough time.

Gambling is fun. Loot crates are just like gambling in that a vast majority of people won't do it, or only do it from time to time. The money is made off of people who have a habitual problem with gambling.
if you can't play the game without the promise of drip fed lootboxes then it's a shit game, simple as that
if you friend can't comprehend that he's being skinnerbox'd then he's a retard

But how is that in any way good for the consumer?

What is a Skinner box? Maybe I can use that against him.

Is that like the Dyson Sphere thing?

I'm very dumb. Can you explain the similarities between loot crates and this?
