Use Bolt3 and Ultima, cure often and you should defeat it pretty quickly. Ignore the arms completely. Concentrate on Inferno alone. You might want to equip relics that protect against petrify in this battle.

I used to attempt to kill things as quickly and brutally as possible, using the big attacks, and using fenix downs and healing items constantly, not giving a shit if it was a close battle or not

now I try to find the 'strategy,' and the bosses usually end up feeling too hard because I don't like it when things don't go well

in other words, jrpgs aren't really balanced around careful player technique, they just throw health bars and attacks at you, and sometimes they're really high

Which is a damn shame. A lot of the older JRPGs usually had some secret way or another to easily negate most boss damage. A prime example I like to bring up is FF4 and the bosses that could be blinded or poisoned.

This fight fucking sucked shit jesus christ why are you so bad OP. Mog had nothing but his starter weapon and 3 learned spells, none of which were healing, so he was literally only there to Slow twice, Haste twice, and then soak hits while spamming items. Had to redo the fight entirely after my first attempt because I forgot he became immune to elements and started hitting people for 9000 damage in his second phase so I slapped a Genji Glove on Terra and saved Golem and Morph to power through that. Lucky desperation attack hit him for 7k and killed him before I ran out of PDs.
