Its surprisingly real. Years ago I did a presentation on Deus Ex at school and I did some fact finding on OP's scene because I thought it would be interesting. Employment indeed is getting "consolidated", but less extreme. From 1950 to present the US population grew ~120% but self employment grew only 50%. The Trilateral Commission is indeed full of ex bankers and high level government officials, but there was no mention of most US presidents being part of it.
