Consoles actually did have some advantages over PC in the past, like ease of use - consoles were plug-and-play, just put the disc in and you're good to go. Now consoles have DLC, patches, installations, and so forth, without the upsides of PC (like free mods). Consoles are basically the worst of both worlds now. The only advantage they have left is that the hardware is standardized, but they're starting to move away from that as well.

I agree with you for most part. I'm assuming you're referring to the PS2/Gamecube/XBOX era. That's pretty much around where I stopped console gaming. I feel like exclusives are the only thing that is keeping console gaming alive at this point and I don't think even that will last unless some major changes occur in the future.
