How do you guys feel about the 2nd, for those that have played the early access? I'm on the fence about buying it now. First was really fun for couch and online co-op, and that's really all i'm in it for to play with a buddy. Only got about 15 hrs or so into the first, but did a lot of reading on the game (bad idea) and felt legitimately gimped for not rolling a mage or wizard. How's 2's balance? How's the story. Is it...fun?

Download the early acesss and try it out yourself my dude, the combat is good but the enemies are strong as fuck.
>>
>only got 15 hours or so into the first

Why not just finish that game instead of buying another?

I played 30 hours of the EA and it's already my GOTY
>>
Story is decent so far if a little confusing on what to do since it gives you like 20 ways to escape the first area, combat is much better, enemies will try not to group up for easy aoe combos and ranged will always seek high ground, will use the environment better, plus all the different ways to approach fights before actually beginning combat
>>
>>388793408
Thank fuck for that, one of the reason why I can't play more than 30 mins of the EA

>>
>>388791648

Glass cannon is worthless in DS2, don't make the same mistake I did. You barely get any AP and every fucking enemy past the first area has a status effect.

The game mechanics seem a lot harder to break than DS1, so I guess it's a lot more balanced in that regard. Though I'm sure it's just a matter of time before someone finds the equivalent of the telekinetic 1000 pound chest.
>>
>>388796397
oh boy yet another rpg where glass cannons aka like 1/3 of all D&D classes are inviable
>>
What difficulty would you guys recommend for a newcomer?

I imgagine I would be pretty bad at this game.
>>
>>388796453

I'm talking specifically about the talent glass cannon since it means your armor/spellshield don't prevent status effects, which is huge. I'm sure it could be viable if there were some item/spell which could prevent status effects, but they fuck over your character so much it's not worth it.

As for glass cannon in terms of stats, I think it's fine. This game doesn't force you to have your mages waste points on con, for example.

I don't know how experienced are you with these types of games. Divinity: Original Sin, at Normal difficulty, was considerably more challenging than your average modern AAA RPG, but about as difficult as your average turn-based tactics game (like XCom: EU)

I'm pretty inexperienced. I tried Xcom 1 (2011 one or something) and got my shit pushed in.

Get a CC machine for everything above normal. (Mage Hydro + Aero). Stack a heavy bag and throw it out with telekinesis 5 for cheesing.

If you play on the better and more fun version I can only recommend a glasscannon + lonewolf sneak archer.

can someone tell me if its optimized well?

>>
>>388802332
Not really just a few lore things like gods and dead kings lore wise the game is set 1000 years after the first
>>
>>388802332
You should play the first one because it's a fucking amazing game. Lorewise not necessary.
>>
>>388791648

>>
Is there any way to see companions attitude?
>>
>>388804310
Examine them I think it shows attitude there
>>
>>388800192
Oil and fire. Specifically Firefly. The smokescreens you create make fantastic barriers that somewhat exploit the combat AI.

Teleport is the best skill in the game hands down.

Everyone should get a "mobility" effect for positioning. Battering Ram is a good one as is the archer jump. Everyone having a basic healing skill is useful too for those tight situations.

Pretty much everything is viable in some manner or another. Be sure to get the ability that lets you talk to animals.
>>
>>388804368
It works. Thanks.
>>
>>388804493
what does talking to animals get you that makes it worth?
>>
>Play first time COOP
>Don't reload if you fuck up anything
>Don't take the plot seriously
>>
>>388804778
It's entertaining. It gives you easy solutions to some quests by talking to the animals; while you can sleuth your way through all the quests sometimes you can shortcut simply by talking to the animals. There are a couple animal-only quests available.

There are certainly more practical talents to get. Personally I'd rather explore more of the game than get that extra 10% damage perk somewhere.
>>
>>388804892
I've spent my first co op of act 1 acting like a massive lizard cunt while my friend tried desperately to damage control the sheer amount of dickassery I was performing. Also the teleportation in this game has to be some of the best teleportation in gaming history.

>>
>>388805323
How does that work in multiplayer with the whole morality thing?Do both players share it, or is it like TOR where it randomly picks a person's response to show, but it's more like client-side on what happens to each player?
>>
>>388805073
aw i wuz just hoping for some type of animal companion function
>>
Is anyone else dissapointed you kill windego or whatever her name was so early? She seemed like a major plot character
>>
>>388805692
In the first game the player who initiates dialogue gets to pick choices while the other player listens (optional) except if the choice is major, then the listener gets to object. It's resolved by playing scissors paper stone.

Don't know about the second game.
>>
>>388805692
From what little I've seen it seems like each player has their own shit they can do as in
>player a has quest 1 which needs to talk to character a
>player b has quest 2 which needs you to kill character a instead
>>
>>388794579
I refuse to play the Early Access because my save won't carry over and I know that I'll get bored and stop playing half way through Act 1 the second time around. The first game didn't have much replay ability and I don't expect this one to be different (and no, playing through the exact same story with a different build that only changes the way combat encounters go isn't replay ability).
>>
Is there any news on undead besides race unlock? Are we getting an undead companion?

The game should come on discs or a USB to begin with. They can fuck off if they aren't going to sell it in a format I'm willing to pay for. I happily pirated the first one, I'll happily pirate the second one.

I'm playing it coop with an ADHS Nigger that doesn't want to read shit or understand shit. But he loves the fights. So I'm reading most of the important dialogues to keep this nigger entertained. We played for like 50 hours in EA. It's great
>>
So going for a complete dickhead run is quite interesting so far. It's not often a game lets you go to town on pretty much anyone and anything, and even less often that the game actually does it in the story. I wasn't expecting to be able to kill 2 potential companions in the span of 2 minutes.

>>388813167
mages have some good spells, warriors fuck shit up, rogues do too but they're more fragile. Don't know about rangers.

Also, in d:os any class can pick any spell/ability (so a warrior can pick a mage spell, for example) as long as the character has the required stats. So in general, classes don't mean much
