Fiction can still be based/reflect on the real world. That's fine. But it actively wanting fiction to be like the real world is nonsensical. Saying "something exists in there real world, therefor it should exist in fiction" is backwards thinking as people use fiction to escape the real world. Going back to GoT, you can't add fiction to something that's already fiction to begin with. I hate this push to normalize obesity.
Take a look at any video of any event in a western country from 25+ years ago. Almost NO ONE is fat. Being thin was the norm by a wide margin. It was EXTREMELY UNUSUAL to be obese until the mid 1980s, and even then fatties were highly outnumbered everywhere.

What's changed is that bad food is everywhere, westerners were propagandized into believing carbs should be a main dietary staple, and mothers/wives no longer cook. Obesity is nothing less than an epidemic and should be treated as such, not some new normal. It is anything but normal.
