I got €800 to spend on a laptop because I was required to have at least an i5 8 gigs of ram and an ssd. Enjoy buying another laptop next year because your $300 laptop will be literally unusable after a year.

There's nothing wrong with paying a little extra for a laptop with a dedicated mobile GPU so you can do some light gaming on the go, but don't be an idiot and fall for the gaming laptop meme. Look for on under $500 and save the rest. I got an Acer laptop that comes with a 940MX and i5 7500u for $450 and it more than gets the job done when playing New Vegas away from home. Just don't be expecting to play the latest games and you're fine.

Okay, stop lying to yourself and admit you do not need a gaming laptop. Don't try to justify it, don't make excuses and say "ohh I can only have one" "oh it has to be portable"

That gaming laptop will just become a doorstop in two years, be a complete waste pit of money, will overheat to hell, be heavy as fuck, have piss poor battery life, and just be all around a big package of regret.

If you need a compact high powered PC, just make an ITX build. You can make them as small as a 12 pack of beer and will be fairly light and highly portable for LANs and such.

As for the laptop, just use that $1000 and get an actual high quality decently built laptop and don't focus so much on gaming.
