Currently replaying pic related. Do you think we'll ever see a sequel to this amazing game? There are so many possible settings too. What would your dream sequel be, /v/?
>>
Rockstar probably thinks people don't like detective games, because L.A. Noire wasn't successful enough. Meanwhile, the main problem with the game was the fact that Rockstar tried to make it less of a detective game with mandatory, immersion-breaking, over-the-top shoot-outs.
>>
>>388771998
Agreed. The shootouts were the worst parts of this game.
>>
>>388771427
>Do you think we'll ever see a sequel to this amazing game?
No.
>>
>>388771427
Not after whore of the orient got cancelled. Rockstar has clearly decided the cost of quality isnt worth the meager profits. Really sad because LA Noire is probably the best game Ive ever played in terms of acting performance and story immersion. I just want a gritty NY sequel where I play some fucked up, coked detective out to clear his name of years of filth, climbing up from the bottom of trash lined gutters and becoming a decorated policeman once again.

L.A. Noire was like a full decade before its time. The bent over backwards to make this game what it was and normies only remember it for its (X) Doubt reaction image.

Life isn't fair.

Didn't Team Bondi shut down after L.A. Noire because of the terrible work conditions and lower than expected returns?

I'd love to see a sequel that polished up the investigation ideas up a bit and brought some more variety to things, but I doubt we'll be seeing one anytime soon with as much as GTA continues to sell.

I mean, mechanically the game was great.

The story however went batshit insane towards the end, if anything broke immersion it was that.

>the case where a literal fucking nuke goes off
>Everything about Cole's death
>>
>>388771427
The problem with the game is that it was repetitive.

It was amazing until I got bored.

I hope so, but the studio who made it is gone. Just beat that shit yesterday again, except on PC this time with all the DLC. Port is pretty mediocre, but the fantastic gameplay and acting made up for it. Real fucking shame there will never be another one. That ending still hits me right in the feels after all these years, literally the first game that made me shed a tear.
>mfw cole says "Goodbye"

the nuke was a DLC case not related to the main story IIRC

Nah. If anything it picked up really nicely. Jack should have been the protag from the beginning

>the case where a literal fucking nuke goes off
>literally right before the final case when the climax is picking up
Yeah that was pretty fucking retarded. Besides that, I thought the story was great for a 40's detective game.

>>
I picked this up the other day? How are you supposed to question people successfully? If you can't rely on certain tells it ends up being just a guessing game.
>>
It was nice to see half the cast of Mad Men in it.
>>
No, because the studio went out of business.
Would make a great movie if they got the original actors
>>
>>388775183
You can't. There will be bullshit parts that even if you pick "correctly" based on the evidence, you still get it wrong for not doing it the "right" way aka the way they wanted you to. Either accept you will get stuff wrong, or use a walk through.
>>
>>388775183
Play some Phoenix wright and get good at evidence based deduction
>>
>>388774832
I realize that. My point still stands. Having a DLC case like that in the middle of the Suburban redevelopment fund conflict, and right before the final case as everything with the story is wrapping up; is utterly fucking stupid.
>>
>>388775183
Basically if they look shifty but you don't have any proof, press doubt. If you do have proof, press lie. It's pretty easy.
>>
The game had good points, but holy shit, it has some lows.
The detective work is good, and the story of most cases are great, but:
The homicide desk is super unfulfilling.
Cole himself is retarded.
The most interesting stuff is discovered by Jack.
The shooting is generic, the driving is bad, and the city is way too big and way too boring.
Whats the point of making such a large city if 90% isnt even visited during the game?
>>
>game has secret cars you can find
>when you drive one of these cars to the mission it replaces that car with the standard police one
its like they went out of there way to make it as linear as possible. FUCK this boring ass game.
>>
>>388776268
Not only that:
>You can take any car on the street
>If you do you lose the police radio, and cant answer to street crimes and need to use the shitty public phones to keep progressing in the story
>You end up driving the police cars for +80% of the game
>>
>>388776268
>>388776775
Shame it's encrypted up the ass, I'd love to see some Sandbox+ mode for it

Rockstar's meddling, they just wanted GTA: Cop Edition

But the arson desk was the best storyline of the game

I fucking love how a simple house fire turns into a grand real estate conspiracy

had this in library so booted up and finished interrogating the jew. that was funny but a slow to get through. in my mind, doubting and lying are basically the same thing so made loads of mistakes. dont have urge to continue playing

>>
>>388771427

>>
>>388783317
Going with lie first is a pretty good way of having them directly acknowledge what piece of evidence they expect you to have for proving the accusation.
>>
>>388780305

>>388783317
Lying is for when you have evidence, doubt is when you don't.
If you play Phoenix wright doubt is like Hold it! and lying is like Objection!
>>
>>388787268
so you could doubt if you have a testimony from a witness?
>>
The facial mocap stuff was years ahead of its time. It can look pretty janky at times but when it works it works beautifully.
>>
>>388788453
If you have testimony that isn't a written statement in your inventory then yes use doubt

Overrated garbage game
>arrive at crime scene
>fuck around for 15 minutes looking for clues
>drive around in the gta 4 engine
>interview some person, exaggerated faces when you need to press lie or (x)Doubt

The stories were mildly interesting and pretty gritty for a game. But I dont want to play a long story driven game, I want good gameplay. L.A Noires gameplay is so goddamn barebones, from the investigating, to the interviews, to the shootouts.

and dont even get me started on the TWEEEEEEEEEEEST at the end involving Cole.
>>
>>388789725
Forgot to mention that the only good parts of the game involve jack, which is a whole hour and a half out of a 15ish hour campaign.

>make a game called noir
>don't even play a private eye until the final act

retarded.
>>
>>388771427

I thought some of the cases were really brilliant but it really didn't feel like you were in charge of the investigation, it's just about finding all the clues and getting all the witness/suspect questionings right, most of which are more about reading faces rather than making rational decision making. Also the fucking reveal of the Dahlia killer was so out of place The game introduces him to you once in the game at the bar, nothing indicates him as a suspect and by the end of the game you realize that you've bagged a shitton of innocent guys and the case where the captain yells at you wasn't really your fault.

>cheating on his wife with a filthy kraut
