I never said MGS2 was perfect. I said it only did a few things perfectly, which was the meta narrative and ending the chain of MG1 rehashes that Kojima had been doing up to that point.
I also put MGS3 and MGS4 next to it. MGS3 I love for being the ideal prequel, the only prequel I can think of that even compares is Yakuza 0. It just does everything right and changes nothing about the current story aside from retconning Big Boss' bio in MG2.
MGS4 is the perfect conclusion and the perfect way to kill a series that is being milked. It reduces all the characters to husks of their former selves and ties up the loose ends, as well as offering up the best gameplay in the series. And before you talk about how great V's gameplay was, it downgraded everything. 2 weapon limit, the godawful buddy system and open world, fultoning everything at no consequence, and making CQC a simple button quick for non-lethal, and it's so quick enemies never have time to go into alert.
And, if I were to rank MGS2-4 against each other, it'd be MGS3>4>2.

I did forget to omit one contradiction, that being the poorly conveyed PTSD line. I had completely forgotten about Paz till you brought it up, given how I never cared about here character and would honestly rather have the Chico from the concept art.

MGSV certainly wasn't perfect, but it certainly wasn't shit. It did some things flawlessly, but was a letdown in others.

Don't conflate disappointment with "it's a bad game" - And don't selectively ignore a game';s flaws in order to stroke your investment in the series.
