>Ruin has come to our General. You remember our venerable threads, opulent and imperial. Gazing proudly from its stoic perch above the board. I posted all my years in that ancient, rumor shadowed thread. Fattened by decadence and luxury. And yet, I began to tire of conventional extravagance. Singular, unsettling tales suggested the Game itself was a gateway to some fabulous and unnamable power. With copypastas and (You)'s, I bent every effort towards the excavation and recovery of those long buried secrets, exhausting what remained of my Tendie dipping sauce on swarthy workmen and broadband internet connection. At last, in the shit-stained crags beneath the lowest foundations we unearthed that damnable portal and antediluvian evil. Our every step unsettled the ancient earth but we were in a realm of shitposting and madness! In the end, I alone fled laughing and wailing through those blackened arcades of antiquity. Until consciousness failed me. .....

I'm afflicted.
On the other hand, what high end games would be recommended?
>>388752172
idk
maybe nu-Prey, i've heard it's a pretty solid game
Black Mesa is also breddy gud
another resource heavy game can also beDwarf Fortress
new hero or boss mod coming soon from the guy who made falconer, guessing it's a hero class based on the filename
>>388752615
Been doing a new campaign since the DLC came out. These fucking insects are everywhere with their infinite dodge. It's really annoying. First time really playing around with abominations beast form though. I can't believe I shelved these guys so long. Just sucks the can't party with the holy dudes.
Needing only 1 party and refilling only when someone dies would fix this game.
Am I a shitter if I always quit before getting a hero to level 3?
Don't get me wrong I'm no shitter I do play like NetHack and shit but the game isn't even fun hard it's just "fuck you" hard
So what happened to the /vg/ thread, had to roll one too many DD checks?
>>388752172
Monster Hunter World when it finally comes out 6 months from now.
>>388752947
But pre-veteran levels aren't even hard if you're not doing purposefully dumb shit like going without torches.
>>388752947
You know you can just dismiss high level heroes and start with lowbies for free if you want to keep doing novice dungeons for a while longer, right?
>>388751680
>beneath the lowest foundations we unearthed that damnable portal and antediluvian evil.
That sentence never fails to make me hype.
Also, is there any mod like Long War for Darkest Dungeon? I want more heroes that are even more expandable and maybe also slower leveling
>need moar heirlooms
>don't have enough money for next quest
>need moar money
>never afford any building upgrades much less blueprints
>>388753182
>expandable
Take your disgusting inflation fetish elsewhere.
>>388753269
Bud, sometimes you just gotta go in barebones to make a little money, don't forget to bring an antiquarian if you need cash. I usually decide at the start of a run if I'm collecting money or heirlooms, never both unless I'm super close to some upgrade
>>388753182
If you want more characters you should check the workshop, there are some great hero mods in there, like the Falconer, the Onnabushi etc
By your post I thought the general was revived and you wanted me to go there. Oh well. How does the Flagellant perform?
>>388753392
I tried that on my last run, I rationalized that I could handle not bringing any torches based on everyone being level 2 and it being medium length but 3/4 people died and the last one only escaped by the skin of her teeth.
>>388753504
Nah, I mean like an even bigger roster (maybe 50 heroes instead of the 20-something right now), which would be offset by your heroes dying even faster
>>388753716
Really good frontline healer. Best bleeds in the game. Take him to the courtyard, weald and Warren's where he can stack bleeds with others.
Like the Leper though hes useless if shuffled to the back.
>>388752947
Apprentice level dungeons are laughably easy compared to Champion once you get the hang of things.
>>388753954

>>388753969
How do you feel about the highwayman? Im fond of his look but I have trouble using him effectively.
>>388754234
a very simple but effective strategy with him is to alternate duelist's advance and point blank shot
>>388754080
It's something I guess
>>388752947
You can always go in and edit hero stats so they're a little stronger. Getting a good balance is a bit tough, though.
>>388752782
>>388753969
Yeah but unlike the leper he can move 2 so it's not too bad. Plus his redeem and exsanguinate are insane.
>>388754234
Highwayman can be used several ways. You can use him as a riposte+point blank shot canon up front on your team. You can also use him as a ranged guy whittling down the ranks too. Pairs pretty well with a flagellent and grave robber.
>tfw not intelligent enough to use grave robber
>>388754234
Try pairing him with an antiquarian and have her spam protect me while he uses duelist's advance. The riposte is OP and he'll get a dodge buff from anti. MaA is a good fit for that set up since he can buff dodge even more.
You can run a Gatling gun with two HwM spamming point blank shot. Bit of a meme though since killing the backline is usually higher priority.
Also equip tracking right before a boss room. The buff lasts a whole fight so it's wasted on regular mobs you should be taking down in 2 rounds but great for the large health pool many bosses boast.
>havent played in a while
>see threads, lets play
>things going bad, but we are holding
>suddenly TREE SMACK CRIT LEL
>bleed death
>stress
>paranoid
>skipping turns
>shuffles
>can't get heals off
>can't retret
>whole A-team dies with best trinkets
>close game and never play again
>>388754721
>have a MaA with legit 35 dodge after Anti buffed him
>gets crit twice and dies to bleed
>>388754785
I fucking hate those ogre looking motherfuckers. Always kill adds and always debuff that fucker asap.
>>388754547
Lunge and thrown dagger are your bread and butter to take advantage of that tasty crit rate and waste backliners ASAP, shuffle other party members forwards to allow more lunges before you have to use pick or fade. Toxin trickery is a decent self buff and bleed/blight removal.
Has anyone tried running darkest dungeon on android via a linux emulator?
>>388754721
Spot 3 is her spot bruh. Use daggers to kill back row, or flashing daggers to double dip in the middle ranks. Unless you've got another blighter don't worry about her blight.
>>388755101
>that filename
w-what happens if you disarm it tho?
>>388754845
>Only 35
>Basically 1 in 3 chance to dodge

>>388754547
It's all fun and games critting and dodging until the game decides to put her to death's door in 2 hits.
>>388755101
I want to disarm that graverobber
>>388754785

I'm mad as hell. Scripted deaths shouldn't make a file unwinnable.
>>388755925
Is there any better feeling than a positive stress bonus on a boss fight?
>>388756112
Removing disease for free during camping.
Removing a locked negative trait from curios.
Killing both supports during the first turn due to tremendous RNG.
>>388752172
I have 60h playtime in Darkest Dungeon played on a windows 8.1 tablet with atom cpu and 1gb of ram - you're lying, it runs on everything
>>388756372
When trying to go to the Baron missin on the CC, it gives Framebuffer Incomplete error leading to game-breaking crashes. It's due to the graphics card not being able to sustain the big prerended map of the Crimson Court
don't believe me? check the game-breaking bug section of Darkest Dungeon on Steam. It's flooded with such reports
>>388756681
nigga does your rig require fucking punch cards? How is this an issue for anyone. I can barely get reliable FPS in fucking TF2 but Darkest Dungeon runs fine.
>>388756681
well fuck, I admit I didn't play it with Crimson Court, as I am waiting for fix too as game now crashes whenever I enter Abbey
>>388756989
CC is absolutely stressful my dude.
>>388753170
How many of each item is optimal? I always feel like I'm wasting too much money
>>388756972
It's been this way for months and the devs haven't addressed it yet
I'm always amazed by how bad most of you casuals are at this game.
>>388752837
Abom is love, abom is life. Get a rank 3-4 houndmaster with cry havoc and equip the abom with the -25% transform stress trinket and you have yourself a reliable powerup when needed that doesnt fuck your run if used twice.
>>388757358
Depends on where you are going. Usually just some bandages and torches will be fine. Perhaps antivenom if you're going into the Weald. 1-2 shovels for cove. Don't forget many heroes have abilities that can remove their own debuffs, use those and you can save some money as well.
>get a fresh party of level 0's
>go on 1 (one) short room battle quest in the Weald
>end up with 3/4 getting the curse
guess it's time to dismiss them
>>388757358
You get a feel for it as you go. Don't worry about overstocking on supplies when first starting.
>>388757715
Yeah, that curse rate is really high.
The only building I have is the Sanguine Vintners based on one anon's advice, what's the next building I should go for?
>>388757738
Alright, I usually pack 6 bandages and some keys and shovels along with my torches
Another huge question I have is mindset. I'm used to games like XCom where if you're careful you can keep your guys alive 9 times out of 10. Is expecting this out of DD walking into it with the wrong expectations?
>Focus Ring on Leper
>>388758089
I think the game can be played with a similar mindset to xcom. Pay attention to how enemies attack you and play around with party combos to see who plays nice together and who doesn't.
>>388758089
Bank.
>>388758089
With a well crafted party you should almost never lose anyone in apprentice or veteran dungeons. Champion dungeons or Shamblers are going to be 90% of your losses
>>388751680
this shit is hard and fuck, but damn if im not loving scraping my way out of areas
im assuming im doing it wrong though and there is a RIGHT way to play the game.
>>388758089
yes, its one of the main reasons i had such a hard time getting into it, couldnt let go
>>388756039
Yeah that's kinda hilarious but I actually love it. It's perfect.
Darkest Dungeon is exactly that game that would tell you to fucking deal with it. You failed anon.
>>388758157
>recruit leper with slugger
>he learns natural swing
>later on gets rabbies
>give him Dismas' head and Berserk Mask
>mfw
>>388758545
There may be more optimal methods than what you're currently doing, but even the best prep can't save you from the worst rolls.
>>388758386
No.
He's going to lose people and there's NOTHING he can do about it. One day he'll walk into an unassuming mission and one of his party members will get crit+bleed and fail their death's door check and just fucking DIE.
It's gonna fuckin' happen. Don't mislead.
>>388758089
See above.
>>388758646
This
I want Reynauld and Dismas to make it
>>388759090
Yeah and the same could be said of xcom, uncover the enemy at the wrong time you are also dead.
>>388759142
I almost made it bros. If only the fucking crocodile boss in CC hadn't raped Reynauld. My dreams are shattered.
>>388758545
Low level dungeons are still pretty forgiving on how you play the game. If you haven't figured things out by the time you first start doing a champion dungeon then the game will straight up fuck you in the ass.
>>388759195
Yeah, but what I'm saying is you need to go into this being ready to accept losses.
Like, it's not even a bad idea to run a party to death and return with half the heroes you set out with if it means you win the bossfight. But it is X-Com-esque in that you're trying to manage how vulnerable you are to the RNG Deities.
So... Yeah. It's both.
I just wanna add one thing to you new guys. Retreating from a mission is in the game for a reason. However, keep in mind in fights where a hero is captured, they will DIE if you retreat from it.
>>388758930
>leper gets rabies
>also gets the red plague a few weeks later
>try to fix the red plague because fuck that noise
>the sanitarium removes all his diseases at once
god damn it nurse, couldn't you just look that one over
>>388754440
He can actually move forward three, unless they nerfed it since I last played.
Protect Me has got to be the best skill in the entire game
>>388760570
It's a great combo with Man-at-Arms riposte.
>>388759439
Might be wrong but it feels like the rng in dd is significantly more brutal than in xcom
>>388759727
Why retreat? You might as well push them to the very limit
>>388760847
>general is dead
>oc still being made
Bless this game.
>>388760847
>that pic
my fucking sides
>>388760738
There's more factors at play in DD I think. And more ways to suffer. It's designed masochistically.
>have one hero at about 110 stress
>face three mosquitoes
>they all spam deafining/annoying whine at her for the entire fight without ceasing
>even try making another hero mark themself, it doesn't work
>has TWO heart attacks and dies
this game fucking cheats
>>388761363
The game was programmed to rape the weak characters harder than the rest of the team.
>4th slot MAA
I seriously hope you guys don't do this.
>>388760659
>2 aunties plus 2 MaAs
>>388761986
>can't use Bellow in rank 4
Of course not.
It's great how trying to use Abom cuts your available healers in half.
>>388760570
Can you explain why? From a beginners perspective the antiquarian seems almost useless
>>388762531
her main talent is being a jew and resource gathering but Protect Me has its uses for giving one character an absurd amount of dodge
>>388762181
He was designed by a wealthy furfag and that restriction was one of his most important design things. Shame too, Abomination could have been better. A werewolf type party member is a cool idea.
Still, he's really strong, so it's worth some of the drawbacks.
>>388755101
>Just make a girl into a gay man
Faggots version of rule 63 I guess.
>>388762531
Spamming dodge skill once it has a few levels is great, or lower the accuracy of a single target
She can force ripostes with Protect Me, Protect Me also gives good dodge
Her heal can take someone off death's door in a pinch
her blight reduces blight resistance, pretty good for blight comps if you want to meme them
Taking her to the Syren bossfight makes it so she almost always gets hypnotised since she's the weakest base stats, her strange powders skill makes someone super resistant to Syren's song of desire
I'm having autism and I need help to decide this:
Who should be the guy that only meditates for stress relief?
Who should be the guy that only prays for stress relief?
Who should be the guy that only drinks for stres relief?
Who should be the guy that only gambles for stress relief?
Who should be the guy that only goes to the whorehouse for stress relief?
>>388764042
