The game had a total cost of over 110$ around summer (it released in february of that year) with both hunting season passes and behemoth (with the game).

The "free" stuff they added prior to that was a gold skin for Goliath as a band aid for the shit state the game was in.
It wasn't until both hunting season passes were out that they added variations to like 2 monsters and 2 hunters.

So claiming that the game was swimming in free content or some shit is downright false and delusional.

Incidently it took them about 5 months to stop corpses from falling through the ground so that Lazarus wasn't a complete piece of shit.

Part of the problem with the game was that it not only cost full price (even on PC) for a MP only game, but they had the gall to charge 15$ for a monster, 25$ for 4 new hunters. Not only that they released ANOTHER DLC pack not even after half a year since the game had been out.

Monsters are/should be base content for the game. Meaning it should be 60 dollars on launch. If monsters cost that much, it's on them for budgeting that much. The problem is that they decided to make a bunch of skins at the same time and then try to charge even more to players on launch.
