Probably the best game from the saga story wise. But I'd suggest to play the first one beforehand or you'll be lost.

Titanfall 2
Honestly if Valve handed off HL3 to Respawn I would have faith in it.

No. The first one doesn't really have a campaign. Just read the wiki summary of the story. The multiplayer is a bit faster I would argue but it's dead.

I liked Crysis 1-3. Crysis 2 is a low point but by no mean the horrible trainwreck its made out to be. Lots of cool stuff in those games, especially if you have the PC for it and crank that shit up. Just put up with Origin, its perfectly fine.

Titanfall 2 is pretty good, unfortunately Titanfall 1 doesn't have a campaign. Has some neat platforming, good acting, pretty environments, and a fun movement system.

Don't know how you feel about Halo, but they are all at least decent. I'd say Halo 3 is the high point just because of the variety and situations you are put in, it feels like Halo 1 and 2 were building to this.

I know we aren't allowed to like Call of Duty here but Black Ops 1-3 are great. Black Ops 3 is a weird surreal rollercoaster, I'm surprised they got away with something so bizzare in their billion dollar franchise. Infinite Warfare has you planet hopping with a bro tier crew and taking in epic space vista's, and I'd argue some of the most satisfying moment to moment gameplay in the series thanks to the impactful feel of the weapons an enemy variety.

DOOM is great, but it is NOT due to the campaign. There's only a minimalistic plot and after that you basically just hop from battle area to battle are with a bit of optional exploration in-between. However, the shooting mechanics are fantastic and you'll probably blaze through the campaign.

Not him, but I found BO3's to be trying too hard to be compelling, nevermind the fact that it didn't have to be called BO3. IW has its heart in the right place with a lot less focus on being a Hollywood action hero and more on being a soldier, but a lot of the plot elements were just so atrociously simplistic. I wouldn't recommend either to someone who wants to see the best campaigns but if you're interested in how CoD campaigns have gotten over the years then go ahead.

I'm on PC in Australia, literally the smallest playerbase around. I find matches easily from 4pm to midnight, and can find them just fine (with high ping) on the singapore or oregon servers outside of AUS peak.

It isn't anywhere near the latest CoD/Battlefield in terms of player count but it is still going strong and has an active playerbase, especially on xbone

Such a shame everything after H2 went downhill, at least story wise. Although one could argue H3 was probably the most balanced in all fields (story, gameplay, MP, music) while never reaching its full potential. It's definitely the most complete package, though.

I always wondered what happened between 2 and 3, it's like 3 was written by different people altogether given how the story either took huge shortcuts or flat out dropped plot lines.

Maybe they feared people wouldn't be able to follow the story since so many complained about H2's, but still that's a loss.

Oh well, at least Bungie's Halos had more pros than cons. While nowdays it's literally the other way around.

crysis 3 is decent. i really like the atmosphere and level design and the combat feels much more free like the first game, rather than being boring and standard like 2. i definitely wouldn't say theres anything of note about it that makes it worth playing over anything else, but you can do way worse.

Treyarch always experimented with Black Ops, it's always crazy how they got away with it (BO1 is straying away from the usual "USA is the good guys" and filled the plot with details and easter eggs, BO2 got this elaborated campaign tree, and BO3 got this Netflix style campaign with nonsensical plot that you need to play couple of times to understand). And yeah, IW's campaign is underrated as hell.
