I tried the free trial for this and about 75% of all the players were the cat people and about 60% of the cat people were female. They were fucking everywhere. I made one of the giant people and I think I saw about 3 others in the time I played it.

A lot of women do play FFXIV, but it's still mostly men. The problem is that a lot of men in FFXIV try to act all cutesy and they do more roleplay than in other MMOs so it becomes more difficult to tell.

I'd say "try them all", but some classes play differently at high level.
It honestly doesn't matter what you level first.
Archer, Rogue, Gladiator, Conjurer, Marauder, these five are in almost every endgame team. Pugilist and Thaumaturge are also pretty good.
The remaining two are less used, but still fun to play and all. They'll get buffed in 4.1 too.

For one you'll want to use thunder2/4 since they're aoe. Fire2 twice, then flare, transpose, fire3.

The toolkit is unoptimised and go against itself (use ruin 4 always except if you have bahamut lol, can't really tie rouse together with enkindle for a proper rotation because lol enhanced enkindle rng)
Where other casters use lucid dreaming as a oh shit button you have to use in your rotation because you will be that mana starved
If you die you can't even summon your pet even if you have atherflow ready God forbid if you don't have swiftcast
The jobs DPS is fine it's the mechanics of the job itself it kicks you in the ass at any point you fuck up it's job mechanics but where one job can get back up on their feet within 6-10 GCDs you're on your ass for 1-3minutes. It's so bad you have pigs that will kick SMNs or straight up not allow them to simple shit like farm parties.

3rd best personal DPS in the game, and the only two jobs that are better have no utility. Meanwhile, SMN has

-Contagion, a 15 second Trick Attack for magic damage once a minute
-Radiant Shield, which on top of a 2% physical damage increase for 20 seconds makes ALL damage taken by EVERY party member trigger a 50 potency counterattack, this includes raidwide damage and adds up to a lot of damage
-Devotion, a 5% dps+healing increase and defense buff for a single party member
-Battle raise

On top of the already good caster support role actions.

And you FUCKING RETARDS are such ABSOLUTE SHITTERS that you still think SMN is bad.

The real issue is SMN have to jump through 10 times as much bullshit just to keep up with other DPS. Our kit isn't super fluid or intuitive like BRD or RDM, We don't have big damage spikes like SAM or BLM, or reliable buffs/debuffs like NIN, DRG, or even MNK for that matter. Our numbers are fine, our playstyle isn't. Even MCH got "fixed" before we did and that's sad.
